Woohoo! I just signed up for the next round of the 12wbt Very excited, pre-season opens 27 April, only a few days away! My yoga lady has not been budging lately, so i need some serious help to get her on the move again.

I did a run the day before yesterday, and a massive bushwalk carrying DS in the Ergo today and hopefully i will find time tomorrow for some serious exercise. I have already decided to buy myself a heart rate monitor as an early mothers day present I am going to stick with the 7500 rule from here until the challenge. I.e., you need to burn 7500 calories per week to lose 1kg a week- less your basal thingamo which is 1700 a day for my height/weight/age, but adding back in my 12-1400 cals per day for food ITMS?

We'll have to have a 12wbt thread for those of us doing it this round (yep I've re-signed up).

I've done NO exercise this weekend except for a few walks along the Murray River, plus a drunken walk home last night which I swear took 3 times as long as the walk into town in the afternoon

wow, lots of people doing 12wbt, that's great!

Well my last weigh-in was down 800g (over 2 weeks) so I was pretty happy with that. 3.9kg gone, 7.1kg to go. Would really like to get those numbers into the 4's gone and the 6's to go!!
Had a bit of a blow-out the last two days, so today I'm back on the wagon!! Figure if I stay focussed I might be able to redeem myself by Sat's weigh-in...

appletree - can you explain more about that 7500 thingo? My DH is struggling to lose (he gained 700g in his first week watchign what he ate) but he's been very sedentary and we're sure that's not helping. How do you work out your basal thingamo?

Trying to keep up girls, still away.
Am being good, we normally eat meat til it's coming out our ears with bacon every day etc but I'm not.
Not snacking a lot during the day and chasing the kids so who knows I might even manage a loss.
Might be checking out some wineries today

Sent from my iPhone, more than likely while I should be doing something else!

appletree - I have NO idea what you're talking about with those calculations!!! LOL... but sounds like you know what you're doing I got myself a HR monitor last week- well, I ordered it, it's arriving this week hopefully!

The 12wbt sounds amazing, I wish I could sign up for it! Its great that so many of you are doing it together as well, it will be so helpful to have that support!

Well, I went *totally* overboard yesterday and ate a week's worth of treats in a day! As well as brekky, lunch and a HUGE dinner (and dessert) there were hot cross buns, choccy bunnies (lindt, thanks hubby) toast, CHIPS?!!?!, a beer and a g&T. I don't feel guilty though, I knew it was coming and It's really helped me switch my focus from simply losing weight to actually training for an event. Plus, I took a whole 13 minuted from my running time in just a week! It says more about how slow I was last week rather than how fast I am this week, but it shows that even just a week's worth of work helps a million for your body!

So, there'll probably be a bit more choccie today (easter bunny be damned!) but there'll also be a good run with the pram and lots of smiles.

    Go go gadget everything!

so I knew that after the high of enjoying all of that delicious food there'd come a low. Sugar- you're evil!!!! My running has been going very well, but I'm off to the gym in a bit and I can't find anything that looks remotely ok. I know I'm fitter, I know I've been exercising well, so why won't my pants fit properly without looking like a stuffed sausage??? Hubby can't understand why the gym pants I wore the other day (that I was perfectly happy in) are suddenly not right. To be honest, now that I've written it down, I can see where he's coming from, I think I'm crazy. But I still don't want to look like a stuffed sausage at the gym.

Hahaha krystals, I can just picture two stuffed sausage legs! You'll be fine, just get them on and go then send us all a pic...!

    I am so mean hey?

The thing I was talking about is the formula for weight loss. You need to burn 7500 calories per week to lose 1kg of weight. Your body on it's own burns calories without you needing to do anything, mine burns 1700 a day based on my weight and height, but I eat between 1200-1500 cals a day (theoretically) so I typically burn of 1400-3500 cals for not doing anything. But, if I want to lose a kilo I need to burn the difference between 7500 and 1400-3500 doing cardio, so roughly 400-800 calorie burning sessions each day. Does that make sense?

    Happy Easter Everyone!

    And straight into the personals:
Jayne - Regarding the running: Yes, I totally feel like that!!! So empowered and like I could tackle the world....
AFY (as for you I like to come up with new terms) I am SOOOO proud of you!!! You've made it!!! You are sooo inspiring! Oh, and well done on your clothes! Can't wait until I feel like that... Something to keep me motivated.

Krystals - Thanks! Yep, the program is going well, I'm not even struggling! I'm impressed with myself . Oh, I love your new ticker!

ZF - How did you enjoy your holidays?

Appletree - Yay! So happy you signed up for the 12wbt! Let us know how you go! I REALLY want to join, too, but we have a few *cough* cash problems at the moment. Oh, and good on you for doing your run!

Belfie - Nawww, thanks! Oh, and I totally hear you on the clothes issue!! I'm VERY top heavy and have great difficulties finding clothes that fit or look good on me. It is sooo frustrating...

Astrid - Sending you a . I'm glad your hubby is on board now. It makes things so much easier.

Belfie - Got my fingers crossed for you!

Easter Bunny - Oh you evil, evil Easter Bunny!! (*shakes fist at that darn rodent*) Why oh why did you get me so much chocolate? Why did you make me eat it all, too? And why did you stay at my house and make me hot cross buns for breakfast everyday and a greasy BBQ at night? I know YOU can hide your flab behind your fluffy tail, but spare a thought for ME! I have to face the scales again and face the public with the extra weight. Not everyone can disappear for a year and get back in shape before the next outing. There. I said it. You're pure evil.

AFM - Struggling food-wise during the Easter season. It's all the Easter Bunny's fault. As for the exercise, I'm doing great!! I'm in my second week of the C25K and LOVING it!! I can run! Haha, who would have thought!

Getting serious as of today guys I have already started logging food into my fitness pal! I endured a bowl of sticky slimy porridge for breakfast so should be full now until lunch, where I will be having a salad, then it's only dinner which I have to worry about... Df is cooking! Saving at least 800 cals for dinner tonight

Raupe it is fantastic to hear from you!

Jayne, I hope your having a fabulous time! Any pics of the dress? Add me to facebook so I can see

Oh man, i have the most massive headache today! Its a good thing i saved all of those calories for DF's dinner as we had champagne and chocolate for dessert! It was very nice though And i still came in with a 700 calorie deficit so its a good start to the week.

But now he is cooking the most delicious smelling quiche... all of that pastry, bacon and cheese! Its so tempting! Feel to poorly to get out and do some exercise this morning, i haven't even managed a shower yet!

So, here's my question- would you log BDing as cardio, or would you call it incidental exercise? How many calories do you think you burn? I might go and google it

Oh wow, I think I might possibly be going to die... I just did level 1 of the 30 day shred and I now feel completely sick and my legs are shaking! Was not expecting to get such a good workout!

I am currently at approx 1900/7500 cals that I need to burn this week to get my 1kg off with 5 days still to go I think I can do it! I would love to see my ticker move some more!

As for BDing, google told me it's approx 80-100 cals burned great incentive... Lol.

I've been in hiding because I have been a bit slack with the boys on holiday. I did pump every 3 days or so but nothing else. I made it to the gym today and ran 20 minutes, also did 20 minutes on the rowing machine and ten minutes on the cross trainer so I think that counts as a workout.
I'm eating cheese and crackers at the moment so probably undoing all my hard work

I just decided to plug my weights for the last month or two into CK - bearing in mind I've been very happy with how I'm going. I got the following blurb:

"Be happy! Don't blame yourself if you feel you've done your best. It's how your body decided to respond on this occasion. The human body does that sometimes. Be a winner and get over this small hurdle."
what a crack-up! Clearly I'm supposed to want to lose more over this time hahahahah.

Appletree - I put BD'ing (under MANY names) into the CK exercise database and got nothing. Maybe they'll lock my account now bwahaha. Did Mrs Google have anything interesting to say? And btw I am SO impressed with your ticker, over half-way there! Thanks for the explanation about the basal thingamajingo, that did make sense. Basically my DH needs to get off of his bottoms! (sounds even better if you say that sentence outloud - yes I am one of those weird ppl who kinda think-speak what they're typing).

raupe - I cracked up at your rant against evil bunnies. Think I agree lol! As for top-heavy... yah it's SO annoying. I think I could chant "smaller boobies" as my mantra for every single step of every piece of exercise I do! The day I realised I didn't even fit properly into the LARGEST mat bra in Target was a sad day. I get top-boob .

krystals - what is it about stuffed sausage legs that just leap out & bite you when you least expect it? It's a weird phenomenon that maybe someone somehwere should research. Why something looks ok one day and totally totally 10kilo-gaining wrong the next.

Onyx - sounds like you've worked out well today. You'll get there!

And of course if anyone is feeling discouraged, feel free to borrow my little CK motivational speech hahaha. AFM I'm walking more, need to stretch more too tho! Started my free health coaching (diabetes australia run it for folks at high risk of diabetes)... first phone session was today for 45 mins and was really informative. She said I was unusually young to be doing it, and wanted to know why I was... I explained how the two stints of injecting insulin had really put me off that whole little diabetes idea! So the goals we set were to walk 20 mins each day & eat 2 pieces of fruit each day (I'm a fruit slacker) and she'll ring me back in a month. She was also encouraging me to have more legumes & seeds in my diet. Oh and protein. So I'm doing ok this week, hope to get to another reward point at this sat's weigh-in... need to lose at least 200g to get there (and I think I put on a bit last weekend lol so easier said than done!). And sadly as I read back through the posts... my mind latched onto the word bacon in ZF's post and I swear my mouth started watering. How sad is that! So anyway, I made the evil word nice and little, so as not to tempt anyone else...

So I'm thinking walks, maybe some cycles, more legumes (dahl anyone?), kiwi fruit for morning tea, yoghurt for arvo tea. Happy healthinatin' everyone!

Nuts are a yummy way to get more protein.
Chickpeas are a legume so now you have an excuse to eat more hommus.

I've signed up to calorie king and I'm totally lost.

It's confusing to start with, but it does get easier. I still reckon it's harder to get homemade meals into it (compared to WW online) but for snacks it's good, and hey, it's free at least

AFM - 200g loss for this week which I'll take after Easter! Plus I've snuck onto a new weight (with a 4 in it...) which means I get a reward woo hoo!! Plus it puts my BMI smack bang on 26, and I think I'm starting to look pretty different. Really hoping to keep it on track and lose 500g this week.

Still away, not sure how I'll go come Monday but hopefully not too much damage
Clothes still fit, I don't feel massive so can't be too bad.

    How is everyone else?

I got told last night I look like I've lost more weight, weight probably not but CMs definitely

I'm supposed to be going to the gym today but I think a huge long walk tomorrow will have to suffice. New month tomorrow, new goals. 2 months until coast trip so would love to drop another dress size by then. Have final goal of looking good for a trip to Bali in Sept.

That's awesome sopdet! It's so nice when people start commenting! Makes all the effort seem worthwhile

I am so jealous of your trip to Bali, that is going to be awesome!!

ZF- hope you have a safe trip home, sounds like you have had the holiday of a lifetime! Great job on still feeling great at the end of it!

Belfie- they are excellent results! I hope you are really really pleased with yourself! A bmi of 26 is fantastic!
