For those who haven't bought the book, there are obvious sugar foods that you know to steer clear of, but the foods that surprised me and which have posed the most difficulty is sauces and marinades. I didn't realise how much sugar is in those and I cook with them pretty much every night. Tonight I am going to make vegetable pasties. I bought some pastry ready-made and it contains less than 1g sugar in every 100g, so it's ok.
Another big one is cereal. 'Bix' cereals are ok, as are oats and plain bran, but pretty much everything else is mod-high sugar. Low fat dairy is also high sugar, so whilst it goes against your weight loss instincts, full cream is what you need to use.

Did you start yesterday?
The Sweet Poison book sounds very interesting! I might look into it and see if i can get a copy... mainly to loan to my sister who has a terrible sugar addiction. I've been thinking about what I can do to help her now that I see her almost daily. I managed to wean myself off sugar to a large extent a few years ago. Mainly in a bid to be a better role model for my children, especially my teen daughter. I can now drink hot drinks like tea and coffee without sugar so that's 4 less teaspoons of it per day. I also highly recommend (if you are a chocolate addict) going for the super dark stuff. it has way less sugar but a lot more of that feel good chemical that makes it so addictive.
