Lols I have to admit I never experienced 90% of these problems cause I used to go to a women's only gym... I think you girls should think about trying one next time, I used to go to Fernwood before bubs came and we had to tighten out finances , but I loved it. Ladies from all walks of life, all fitness levels and ages. Free breakfast if you work out in the mornings and they have incense and stuff so it's not sweat smelly and things like hair dryers, spray deodorants, etc to borrow if you forget yours. Can't rave enough about them! My only pet peeve was when my heart rate monitor used to show up on other peoples treadmill displays. Older ladies who were just strolling would suddenly see a bpm of 185 and think they were having a heart attack!

I really shouldn't comment in case I got fired BUT...no one knows me lol....

People that do their own cool down at the end of the class...if you're going to leave early then fine...but you should tell me...if you have an injury then fine...but again, you should tell me.

People that leave early during a class with an actual reason but don't tell me before...I take that **** personally you know and think you're not enjoying the class.

People that know i'm talking to them but totally ignore my advice...at least aknowledge i'm speaking....and if you continue to squat to your ankles in Pump then I will tell you. And if you continue to kick to someones imaginary head in Combat then again, I will tell you differently...I have insurance but I don't want to use it...

Same with people that do their own choreography...even if you're right I'M the instructor, follow me. You might do 10 Pumps a week and know the chorey better than me but I have three different programs of chorey to remember plus participants that want different tracks on different weeks, sometimes I make mistakes.

So...instructors are people too...not infallible and possibly have kids, another job etc...don't think they're robots that don't have feelings or anything else to do other than deliver a perfect class. Some of them have out of control anxiety that makes them not want to get out of bed let alone get up on stage and smile and motivate 30 people.

ETA...sorry, sounds bitter and awful...don't mean to ruin the thread...bad day. Let me say most of the time participants make the difference between a great class and an awful class, which can make the difference between a great day and an awful day to the instructor...so go along, enjoy...give back, be loud and enjoy!!

C~Q I take the BP class occasionally as in 1 or 2 a week. I really enjoy it even though I'm pretty useless at it (I'm a returning beginner ITMS). It annoys me too when I see people leaving early. Why bother taking a class if you can't stay for the whole time? Why not do something else instead? It surprises me when there is less then half the class left at the end.

Thanks R...sometimes people have a real reason why they have to leave early...but it's only polite to tell the instructor before! I mean I have people walk out because it's not what they thought or they don't like my style and thats fine...but if it's actually the Dr or dentist then tell me and I won't have to stress out or be disheartened for the rest of the day!

I'm adding another one - judgemental staff. We've had a few where I used to go. Even spread rumours about my trainer and myself. Idiots. Guess the last laugh is on them though! He's got a roaring business at another site. I've followed him and cancelled other membership. I'm happily married for 10 years come April. He's getting married in a few days. But yeah, we're totally having a thing. And yeah, I totally love it when you snigger and make comments about the patrons...in hearing shot of other patrons...but I TOTALLY believe you when you say no one cares what others look like or do in the gym...

Oh, and I've been to an all female gym and had similar issues there as well. And I've been to gyms where there are no issues. It all depends on the staff and patrons in my opinion. And if I don't like it, I train at home!

Damp change room floors. Blech. In fact, make that anything damp at all!

Oh and I've been scarred forever by the sight of those faces the dudes pull and the GRUNTING when they want everyone to notice how heavy their weights are.

I really need one of those nice lady gyms.

I particularly hate how everything wobbles..... And I can't find a sports bra in my size so prevent the wobbles toppling me over.... Lol.... How can they fight the obesity epidemic when they don't provide the right equipment to encourage people to actually exercise!!?!!?!

Teeny tiny size 8 girls in teeny tiny shorts and crop tops who say, while setting up for pump next to me, "oh my gopsh, I can't, like, believe how fat I am today. It is like totally gross because I am just massive, I really need to work out on my abs..." Meanwhile post 2 baby, size 18 me cowers in shame...

... this thread makes me think how much I love my gym!

the only thing I can think of is when machines don't work properly - like when the treadmill sometimes does that jerky thing, where it messes up your gait ... I normally just get on another treadmill if it starts doing that, though ... solved!

people are pretty good about wiping down things, the staff are mostly friendly and obliging, there's a good range of equipment ... it's a nuisance when people are using something I want to use, but I can do other things until they're done ... the gym isn't smelly and the floors aren't wet ... the lockers are pretty small, so I just take a smaller bag ...

my old gym had a spa, which I really miss, but it's not really a "hate" ... I would just like a spa too!

my new gym has a coffee machine ... swings and roundabouts
