    Why are you losing weight

i am losing weight because as some of you may know i woke up from sleep a bout 10 days ago not being able to breath and Dw had to call the ambulance they said that it was a bit of flam or spit that got stuck somewhere but DW and myself both know that it was a bad bout of sleep apnea .
that episode could have easily killed me trust me i was more than half way there it was really scarey for me and it was at that point i said to myself right i am not going to die because i am too fat being way to overweight is not going to take my life so that is why i am losing weight this time round and for good I realized that i have too much to life for i have a wife and 4 wonderful children plus one on the way and i havent made my mark on this earth yet well that is the short version anyways

what is everyone elses reasons for losing weight?

I want to lose weight because

    a) I want to be fit n healthy
    b) it will be easier to lose at 31 after 1 bub than at 40+ and more kids
    c) I have bf to help me!
    d) I hate my WiiFit telling me I'm fat!

I want to be someone my daughter can be proud of, and this is one aspect she can't be

I don't want to die and be lying on a hospital bed looking like my mother did when she died...there is NO dignity in death, I want to save as much as I can for when the time comes.

I've done it before, so know what I can be, and don;t want to be what I am now.

Because I need to get my food habits right before I have children around me seeing how I role model eating.

Because I have a medical condition that can easily become quite serious if I don't keep my weight under control. Because I have another medical condition that has required me to take the evil prednisone (causes weight gain and increases appetite) far too long. Because I have a wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit any more.

Because I've had one too many comments about looking like my mother lately. I know that I do look a lot like my mother, but my mother is also obese (I am just at the extreme upper limit of healthy weight for my height, but I know it's too much for my frame). My mother always blamed her weight gain on pregnancy and the pill, but the truth is that it has stayed due to eating crap and plain old slothfulness.

I have always been determined that I would not end up like my mother (and her sisters who are all overweight, I've got some serious genetics to battle!), that I would be fit and well (big challenge considering my medical issues) and able to play with my child... I guess you could say that I'm mostly determined to not have my weight go up any further, but because I have only gained about 5kg over where I was when Sam was conceived (and I was back there at my 6 week check) I really can't justify the spending to have more clothes that fit. Weight loss it is.

To eliminate it as the possible cause of my 'infertility'. We have been TTC for so long id just hate for that to be the reason

As well as wanting to look and feel great about myself, i refuse to let DP see me nude

    * I want to be able to look at photos of myself without cringing.
    * I don't want to be wearing my gutsucking underwear (the ones that come under my breasts!!) in Summer!
    * I want to be fit and healthy. (this one should probably be first )

    Ditto!!!

If I put a lot of effort into down sizing than I won't ttc bub #4. I think transforming myself will be a celebration for the end of my child bearing time.

    1. Because I know I can and I feel and look better for it
    2. Because I don't want to look pregnant unless I am pregnant
    3. Because I'd love to get into size 12 jeans again (it's been 15 years)
    4. Because I want to have more energy and not be so tired at the end of the day
    5. Because I need to increase fitness, strengthen core and eat healthily for when we get pg again
    6. Because I want to be in a weight range, that means if I gain 10-20kg in pregnancy, I won't weigh so much it limits my choices in where/how I can birth
    7. Because according to my wizz-bang scales, I have 42% body fat and that's about 20% too much (I think)
    8. Because I suspect I have sleep apnea too
    9. Because I want to look good naked
    10. Because I'd love to go blow $1000 on fantastic clothes in smaller sizes that make me look divine (assuming I had the $1000 anyway, but that could be a goal)

I also want to learn to lose weight so I keep it off, not lose it for 3 months, then gain it back in 5 weeks. I don't want to diet anymore, I just want to eat right and exercise more. I'd also like to learn not to comfort eat.

    Good topic

I'm not currently trying ... I should, but I'm not. I SHOULD ... but am not

I have about 12-14 kg to loose and HEAPS of work in the gym to get my arse back to what it was before kids. I'm also purely vanity driven. Sure it's going to be good for my health and all that snot ... BUT I actually just want to wear summer dresses and shorts, and strappy tops. I have a beautiful back, but don't feel I can show it off, because I have like six pairs of love handels and that icky back/arm fat under your underarms .. you know what I'm talking about.

I should just get moving and start .. right? Yeah, says the woman who just snogged down a packet of jelly babies *sigh*

Yup. I was only lamenting mine today as I saw myself wearing only my singlet. It'd be nice to hang out in only a BF singlet in public, but not this summer I'm afraid.

    1. I don't want to be described as "you know, the big woman with the short hair".

    2. I don't want to be the fat sister.

    3. I want to look good in my clothes again.

    4. I don't want to be repulsed looking in the mirror anymore.

What gave me the motivation to start though is a school reunion in October .

To help my depression over not having another baby. At least looking fantastic will be something to show off instead of showing of the beautiful baby I was hoping to be showing off instead.
To be able to DTD again without being worried what DH will think of the wobbly bits. I wont even let him massage me anymore as I hate him feeling my saddle bags and back pads.
I also have two wardrobes of gorgeous clothes I could never fit into. It would be lovely to fit into them again.

Oh, I hear you hun!! My 'back fat' and flabby upper arms are my biggest problem. As I said before, my lower body is in pretty average, but acceptable shape (let's just not think about the post-baby belly that is pretty much beyond repair!), it's my upper body that makes me cry every time I see a photo of myself looking like a peanut perched on a giant's shoulders...
And I just undid 15 minutes of push-ups and arm exercises by scarfing down an entire packet of chocolate chips... gah!! It's so hard to get motivated, and to STAY motivated...
I think my key is going to be looking at pretty dresses for the Britney concert and aiming to go strapless by then. If that sequin dress I'm bidding on doesn't motivate me, I honestly don't think anything ever will!!

    Loss

I want to feel confident and not just talk about loosing weight, but look back and actually say I have done it. I have 7 more KG to go for another goal I have made for myself.

Who has done something about loosing weight??
    And can now see results?
