Thanks heaps for all of your replies girls!!!!

You all sound like you have had some wonderful successes!!! Well Done!!

I definately think now that Weight Watchers is the way to go!!!

Although talking to a Dietician would be beneficial, at the same time I think I personally would need the support and motivation from going to meetings and being around other people with similar goals.

As far as DP is concerned, we need to see a dietician anyway. He hasn't been to see anyone about his diabetes in years, and as it is type 1 (insulin dependent/childhood) diabetes, he has far more health concerns than type 2 diabetes. It is quite scary that he is ignoring it, but as a young man I think it really depresses him and he wants to ignore it. He has just been very lucky so far.
I hope I can be a help to his lifestyle and health too, by doing all of this... cause its probably the only thing I can do for him to help with his illness.
(sorry for getting off topic there!)

Lucy - thanks for explaining the low GI rule to me... it makes it a lot easier for me to make some better food choices now.

There are so many new food & dieting crazes going around these days which are all confusing me, so I am looking forward to learning what is true and what isn't. I mean, what should you try to cut out the most? - kj's, Fat, or Carbs??? etc, etc...

Now I just have to get myself organised and join up with WW in the next week or two!!!
