I did an ebay box a few weeks ago... no wait, February! I wanted to try and make money for textbooks for uni. I think I made $6, coz I didn't get round to putting all on ebay... must do that after exams
You know what I found effective to help me declutter - a series on Foxtel called "Hoarders". I couldn't watch a full episode without getting up & throwing stuff out! I knew I was/am in danger of being a hoarder when I was recognising the excuses, especially identifying with the emotional attachment ('I need to keep this because it reminds me of...'). They are really hard bonds to break.
So now I look at things & ask 'have I seen/used this in the last 6 months?'. If I hesitate, say 'no', or if my response is a bit too irrational (and emotional), it has to go.
DH said to me, and I really have to remember this when I declutter, "everything you throw out is making room for the baby". I could have emptied the whole house with that line!!
Thanks Didispunk! You have helped me heaps. I started today and have already covered a queen bed with stuff for a garage sale! And that was only the kitchen.....
I read yesterday that you should only keep things that are either loved, beautiful or useful and that has been my motto this morning as I sort and throw!
