Sounds like bleach to me - do you use fabric softner? Because I have found sometimes it does bleach things, when it sprays out from it's holder during the first spin.....

ETA, snap Kaz....! You could try dying them perhaps - but then you might have dark red pillow cases with lighter red spots... not really sure.

thanks Ausgirl. DH doesnt care.. he goes 'we just sleep on them' ...im pretty lazy so can see me leaving them...

if DH used napisan in the machine, is there a way to make sure there isnt any hanging around in the machine for the next load?

Don't hold me to it, but I didn't think napisan was that strong that any remanents in the machine would be enough to bleach something. I had a white with red check teatowel that got in the dark load and came out grey with red check the other week and put it in a really strong bucket of napisan, got all the grey out but didn't touch the red....don't really know what's going on in your machine!!

thats whats werid. aside from just washing powder, the napisan is the only other thing we have ever used!! (unless DH has been doing something sneaky...he is a bit of a washing freak...)

    thanks for your help girls!

Napisan has Sodium Percarbonate in it - it's generally colour safe but not always.
