I thought of naming DS1 Dyson, but i thought that was cruel, so I used it for his middle name.

I think it'd be fine on cat hair too. And it was not so expensive when you think it doesn't cost anything for bags and it hasn't needed replacing like maybe a cheaper one would.

I have a dog and cat and yes, it's great on cat hair too - I think mine was about $500 but have been cheaper since I bought it!

I have a yellow dyson to, worked great on cat hair when I had a cat.

Another dyson fan here, I got a fab sale price and got the flat head too for less than $390. That was a couple of months ago. I love it!

I have three....

I love my Dyson!! It really sucks hehe! (LittleChicken stole my line ).
Then I have a Stolli and Cash - they are my dogs and pick up the food DD1 and DS drop on the floor after meal times! Hehehe!

I have the electrolux bagless -bagless is the only way to go, bags are a pain in the rear!

Mine copes very well with the leavings of a medium to long haired indoor cat (doesn't go outside so ALL his hair gets dropped on my carpet) and is also very comfortable for me to use - tricky to get as I'm quite tall and most handles aren't long enough to use without stooping. Plus the cord is reeeeaaaaallly long so I can do the entire house from 2 power points.
