i dont use them in summer but in winter i do the whole sheet blanket and quilt.
i too love high quality sheets but i was watching "ask the decorator" on you tube and thread count only really matters for percale(which is the way the threads are weaved together).
but we all know egyptian cotton is the best.
I love top sheets. My DH is Polish and his entire family don't use top sheets and neither do any of the my Polish friends. It is a Polish thing apparently.
If you have heaps of top sheets around you could use them on your kids beds or have them made into single bed fitted sheets.
We use a top sheet. I like having it there. In summer when its too hot to have the doona on but you still want something to cover you.. and in winter makes you that little bit warmer.
I always use a top sheet. There is no way I am faffing around with changing the doona cover every single week. I can never get the doona back in straight. By using a topsheet, I only have to change the doona cover every couple of washes.
We have top sheets...it's never really occurred to me not to have one! I like to be covered at night though, I hate hot hot summer nights where it's too warm to even have a sheet on. And in winter I love snuggling up underneath lots of covers.
As for making the bed....I just don't do it! The only time it really gets made is when the sheets are changed!
