Don't get a Hoover Hygiene. Have had mine for more than 5years now and while the powerhead is great it has just broken and they are extremely expensive to replace ($300, more than half original price), thankfully after a few unscuccessful bids on e-bay, we've managed to finally get one. I've always had problems with the cord staying out, hose splitting, heads always slipping off etc.

I went out to buy a Dyson and ended up coming home with an LG... just a little bit cheaper than the dyson, think mine was $495 but I got it for $385 and a heap of awsome features.. the best thing about it is that it's bagless and completely compacts the dust collected down into a solid block so that when you open the barrel to empty it the dust isn't going everywhere. The handle also has the controls on it for curtain, sofa, carpet and tiles. Definately worth a look, I was adamant that I was getting Dyson but changed my mind quickly after a test drive of the LG.

I work for a godfreys store and i have a Wertheim vacuum with a powerhead... (bagged of course!) Best vac I've ever brought as my husband has severe dust allergies and asthma and it cleans so well!

Um the best thing for getting spots and stains out of carpets would either be a carpet spotter (good ones are Pullman or Bissell) and if the stain is smelly I would recommend a chemical called fabrisan. It has an encapsulator in it so it encapsulates the smell into a powder then vac up (won't destroy ur vac like those powders that you sprinkle over carpet and vac up!) then go over with a spot stain remover/spotter.

The other option is to get a carpet extractor. If you clean your carpet and upholstery alot, then this idea will save a lot of money.

Chat to someone from a godfreys store they should be able to help you out. If you want to know more please feel free to inbox me. good luck!

There are heaps more cheap-er vacs there now! For around the 100 mark. Please don't be turned off by godfreys explain your experience to them and you'll be suprised how much they help out. Where abouts are you located? Which store sold it to u?
