Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a great break over christmas!!
Lieve - I am very sorry I have everything crossed for the next cycle. Enjoy your facial on Friday! Take care of yourself
Tarkine - How are things going? I see you only have a few weeks to go! You must be very excited!!
Blizz - How is the family going? I am going to go and look at your photo's after I finish this post!!
Gargy - How are you? I hope you are having a great holiday!!
AFM - Had our scan yesterday and everything went really well! Saw little bub's heart beat which was very exciting! We are a few days ahead of the initial EDD.. so EDD is August 16th! Morning/All Day sickness kicked in last week. Have been sick a few times and the nausea comes in waves.. have also been REALLY tired!! Overall am feeling ok though! We have only told immediate family so far.. not going to tell friends until we are over the first trimester.
Good to catch up with you all... I will be on here a lot more now that the silly season is over!!!
I saw this new person in our thread and I thought to myself better pop in and introduce myself and well.........Hello Lulu welcome to 2009.... love the new name, here's to a great year for you my sweet!!!
Hello to everyone else...still not enough time in the day, will pop in another night for a better catch up when it's not almost 12:30
hey Tarkine you know what is even scarier.....Paige turns 3 in July...(SOB)
love to all, have heaps of paper work to sort out better get started I guess.
it has gone quick al, but I've been hanging out to meet bubs. I spent the first 3 months, wishing they would move quicker (coz I was praying not to have a m/c), then the next 3 paniking about getting the house ready, and the last 2 worrying how we are going to survive financially LOL!! Plan on spending the next month, enjoying doing what I like when I like!
Yay Tarkine - I agree it's gone quickly. Good luck with it all!
Ah Blizz - they all grow up. Luckily the both of them are gorgeous.
Joy - hope the morning sickness is only minimal
MsPink - love the name change - hope it brings you joy!
Lieve - thinking of you.
AFM (like the acronym Joy ) Christmas was fairly full on. First we had DH's Mum visiting, then my family Christmas, then we went up to Nan's for a couple of days to make sure that the house was ok over New Years.
Once I came back I have been mainly cleaning the house - trying to get everything in order before I get back, as well as get rid of any mould around the place. The things I am leaving til last include the laundry, the linen cupboard and finally the study - which I have a huge emotional attachment to and I am avoiding at the moment.
I've also had a few visits inbetween like an old friend from school, my BFS, my Aunt and my Mum. I'm going to see a few more people this week.
I've also got to get a few things organised for the new school.
Babywise - we probably won't start again until at least the middle of the year - want to settle into my new job first.
And that's about it for me - a very quiet holiday indeed.
Hi ladies, can't believe we're already nearly through January...
MsPink - like the attitude - need to adopt some of that myself!
Tarkine - try not to enjoy maternity leave too much! You must be brimming with excitement
Joy - how goes the m/s?
Gargy - do you feel a certain amount of peace knowing you've decided to take 6 months off from IVF rollarcoaster?
Blizz - before you know it Angus will also be 3! why do they have to grow so fast?
AFM - well it looks like I'll be hanging around this thread longer than i hoped (no offense to you lovely ladies!). After some really poor communication from our FS, it turns out that in actual fact DH's biopsy last year was unsuccessful, and they had to resort to some pretty crappy thawed sperm, and the embryo we had transferred was in fact a grade 3, not a grade 1 as we were originally told! And it was only through paying for a subsequent consultation that we found this out! We're feeling very frustrated and confused at the moment and feel like we've fallen through the cracks as we're dealing with so many different FS's, nurses, offices, etc. We met with the FS who did DH's biopsy and he's basically told us we have little to no chance of conceiving with his sperm, so if we're going to do another cycle we really need to have back-up donor sperm. So, sadly we're back down this path again. Anyway, i've now cancelled my cycle, as we have to start putting the feelers out for donors.
My question is - i think we both prefer to go with a known donor, but how do you ask someone? And I'd be interested to hear from you girls, how you made the decision to go with either known or anonymous - what things factored into it for you. We met with a counsellor yesterday, so we're trying to work through some of these issues, but there's so much to consider. Also, DH is from europe, so if we were going to ask his brother or friends, there's an added complication.
It's going to take so long.... part of me thinks we should maybe attempt just one more try with DH's sperm - we just need some proper advice from someone who's on top of the whole situation!
Lieve - sorry to hear that you had such a terrible time and that you had to run the gauntlet of the medical profession.
we went down the unknown donor route because we had no one to ask - DH's brothers made it clear that they weren't going to have children and weren't willing to donate.
You choose the donor on whatever grounds you feel comfortable with - entirely your decision. We went through the clinic who gave us a list of donors and we sat down and read through their profiles - unfortunately we were given loads of information (ie 8-12pages) on overseas donors but only 1 page on local donors. We were also able to get photos of the overseas donors, so we kinda knew what they looked like. There is a limit to the countries where they can get donors from - due to the donor having to be willing to be contacted by the offspring once the offspring are over 18.
There is an SBS series on Making families/babies which looks at all the donor issues, and there are support groups etc which can help.
oh Leive, looks like you really have had the run around, I agree with what Tarkine said, don't know why but we never even considered known donor no real reason I guess we just never thought that far.
Well I haven't popped in for long feeling a little flat tonight DH has gone back to work and I am REALLY OVER IT!!! feeling a little sorry for myself so not great company just moping around while Paige is watching a little telly before bed....sigh!!!
might pop back in soon when I'm in a better frame of mind...love to all xxxxx
I'm new to this website...I found the threads here so interesting that I thought of introdcing myself. I'm Kerry from NSW Australia, close to Sydney . Right now considering donor eggs to conceive as all the IVF attempts have failed !! Well both my DH and I haven't lost our hopes yet so we keep looking. It has been very frustrating to go through all the unsuccessful IVF cycles and to lose hope of having a baby!! But I guess one day our dream will come true with the help of a kind heart
Hi Kerry and welcome to our little group, we are all at varying stages along the donor conception path, I am mum to two children conceived through DC, hope we can give you some support and you can find some comfort here!
Lieve - We didn't really consider using a known donor. Basically our clinic gave us about 10 donor profiles (which are only about 1 page of info) and we chose our donor from those. Being in WA we couldn't use a donor from overseas. I sometimes think what our child will look like as we have not seen a picture of our donor at all! I prob would of had this feeling even if DH had some sperm but I guess I wouldn't be so 'anxious' about it?! But I guess they have the 3D scans these days so that might give us some indication!! At the end of the day it really doesn't matter! Have you thought about you might ask to be a donor? I cant believe the run around you have had from your clinic.... hopefully things go a lot more smoothly from now on
Tarkine - I cant believe you only have a couple weeks to go!! I remember when you were only 9 weeks pregnant!! You must be loving being on mat leave!! I cant wait till I stop work (that's a while off for me yet though!) Have you got your nursery all set up?
Blizz - How are things going? Hopefully your DH will be back before you know it!
Gargy - How are you? I guess you would be starting at your new school soon?
Lulu - I love the new name!! I also love the colour pink! I hope this year brings you lots of joy
adk - Welcome to this thread! I kind of stubbled across this thread nearly a year ago & it has helped me so much over the last year - which I hope it does for you too! Everyone is so nice!!
AFM - I am still feeling pretty horrible! m/s has been terrible the last few days... been a little hard to keep anything down. Hopefully this will settle down soon as we are approaching the 12 week mark. We have another scan next Wednesday & am really looking forward to seeing little bubs!! I am getting to the point where I just want to tell everyone but we are going to wait until we are 13 weeks... so only a week & a half to go! Yay!!
