Ours is also in a community centre but don't have a creche which is disappointing.

Just talked it over with DH and think i may have to contact the local babysitting service.

We have an occasional care centre near us and you just call them a week or two in advance to book. They almost always have temporary/emergency spots available and you just book in for a few hours or an entire day. Maybe there is something like that near you?

    Hi
I saw our community nurse a few weeks ago and she was telling me about a program they have for new mums. I can't remember what she called it but you could get someone who would come with you to go shopping, doctors appointments, etc for free. It is not a babysitting service but it is an assistance service when you can't manage on your own.I live in a small country town and we have this kind of service so maybe if you get in touch with your local community health centre they may have something similar.
P.S. Just noticed you are from Newcastle, I also live in the Hunter Region so they should be aware of this program.
    Regards
    LisaB.
