No book list here, we pay $110 for the year and they buy everything for the classroom with the money and all the kids share these items. Sounds like a great idea to me, no worrying about what to take etc as they are still young and new to it all....just hat and lunch box really.

We are excited and emotional all at the same time. DS is excited, especially since the uniform is his favourite colour. We have his orientation day tomorrow will see how excited he is at the end of that LOL! It is a big school but they get a buddy and they get a different hat than everyone else so everyone knows they are the prep students. Oh darn, I'm getting teary just typing this....

Ooooh wow, we are public and I think it's approx $25 per polo shirt and $30 for a jumper. The colour is yellow and black so I will just get black shorts for DS from Big W or Kmart and only buy a few polo shirs and jumpers. The hat is free for prep students.

We have a different colour hat for prep too, I think it's a great idea, easy to weed them out in the crowd lol

That is a good idea - the different hats I mean.
We live in Alice Springs, so for the public schools, they're just happy that their students attend. So we have a very basic uniform of polo and shorts/skort and whatever hat they want to wear.

We don't have a book list either, its included in the fees and its public school. Think our fees are about $350
I've bought few of the uniforms from the school but will get alot from target, alot cheaper. Its so cute alot the girls at kinder have been wearing their school dress to kinder.

Skybie- I have the same fear! I keep having these images of DD wandering around the school lost and alone!

I wish we could use shorts etc from the chain stores, but everything down to the socks is required - the only thing that isn't compulsory is the school bag, but at $55 for a chiro back pack and excursion bag, I thought it was pretty good value so got that to match everything else.

Good thing is about shoes they just have to be black - sports shoes for the sports uniform and black dress shoes for the dress uniform. Already have the dress shoes, just need to pick up some cheap black sports shoes from big w!!

What colours are your kid's uniform? Ours is lime green and navy - bright but you can't miss the kids which is a good thing. Preppies have lime hats, 1-7 have navy hats. The dress uniform is a pale blue with a very subtle lime plaid.

I too worry that J will be alone in the playground. He already suffers with anxiety!

DD1 is going to private school, her uniform for 1x dress, 1x blouse, 1x culottes, 1x polo, 1x shorts is going to cost $200 - That's only 3 seperate uniforms

I'm worried about DD1 crying she is soo excited to be going to school, but she doesn't like new places or people... so there is going to be tears :/

    Teal and Navy Blue here.
My poor DD is getting a new sibling within a fortnight of starting school. I'm worried more about all that upheaval.

The colour of the uniform was almost a deal breaker for me LOL it's yellow and black....just doesn't really look nice at all. Oh well. Got two polo shirst today they were only $18 each, awesome. Will get a jumper when needed and we can wear any shorts just have to be black so will get them from Big W or Kmart. Wasn't going to get the school bag, but need a backpack and i'm told although they are big for them now they last the entire time and it's good for them to get used to them.

Lol Erin, ours is navy and yellow and I don't like it. Tho could be worse, seen some schools with poo colored uniforms!

Kim, yeah thats alot going on at once guess gotta wait and see how she reacts to everything.

I think its going to affect DD2 alot she will be so lonely without her playmate.

My primary school uniform was yellow and brown, or "poos and wees" as we called it. *shudder*

My DH went to a poos and wees school. DS thinks it is so funny!

Shell I think E will hate it while he is in school. She already looks for him when he s at kindy.

The kindy just gave us a transition statement that they prepare for the school. It is quite detailed and will be really useful fr the school.

I am going to make DS a social story about school to prepare him more. I have board maker software at work, and it a great tool for kids with anxiety.

It is for this reason I haven't informed DS of my attendance at a school of these colours lol

Olive - Ohhhh you're so lucky, I don't find out till next week which class he's in. Have fun at orientation!
