    Default Long cycles vs moodiness

So here we are at the end of another cycle...just when I thought they couldn't get any longer I have gone over by another week

I am finding I have the shortest fuse atm, and getting so down about absolutely NOTHING!

I am starting to fear that my cycles will get so long that I will become another who doesn't ovulate at all

Is there anyone out there who has experienced progressively longer cycles...should I be concerned because I am TTC atm? I would hate to think my time is limited before I will need help.

Anyone who is willing to share any past experiences would be greatly appreciated!

    *hugs*

    Hey Cailin

I have the same problem as you - can not tell from month to month how long my cycle was going to last.

Have had all the blood tests under the sun to try and work it out - then I get pregnant!! This has happened with all my pregnancies to date (one little angel).

One thing I was doing when I conceived my precious bubba that is currently "brewing" was I used evening primrose oil capsules (supposed to give lots of CM), dong quai (to regulate cycle) and multivitamins. Don't know if this was the thing that helped us to conceive or what!!

Did notice that CM was really evident at the time bubs was conceived. Kept buggin DH that we needed to bd NOW!!!!!

Anyway, I would advise seeing a naturopath - the gp's I saw were next to useless.

    Hope this helps

Personal question, I know, but how long have you been trying??

We took > 12 months for #1 and 9 for this current pregnancy.

I really think that the EPO etc helped!! (try to tell a doctor that lol!!).

What's worse - try to tell a doctor that your conception date was not 14 days post start of LMP - that your cycles are longer (more like 35 - 40 days) and you don't know from one cycle to the next how long your cycle will last!!

I'm sure you know all the above problems....poor thing!! At least you know I sympathise!!

No not a personal question at all...

We have been trying since June, but I have only had 2 cycles within that time. My cycles have ranged from 50+ to 70+ days. Currently on day 45 of my 3rd cycle.

The reason the dr is giving us 6 mths from now is because I have a history of long cycles, cysts and basically the PCOS. And because she understands that with my cycles are getting progressively worse, with PCOS, its not a very good sign. I was lucky with the dr I saw, I actually saw her for my sprained ankle and it turns out she is specialising in PCOS so we had a good chat about it. She even gave me a name of a really good book. So I think that was pretty lucky because there are alot of dr's out there that think "PCO...what?" IYKWIM. I know that 6 mths can seem like a long time to some, but to me I have a beautiful daughter and even though I would love our children to be close in age I want to be sure I can't do it on my own first. I am sure if I really wanted to I could go see a specialist tomorrow and start fertility drugs and stuff but I want see if I can do it first I will give the EPO a go, next time I go to the supermarket/chemist. And I can totally understand the conception/cycle thing as that happened with my daughter

Thanks for your understanding and support its nice to have someone to whinge with

    Hi Cailin

I just wanted to let you know that your not the only one with long cycles!! My longest since we have been TTC #1 is 150 days, I thought it was never going to end!!

That was the very first cycle TTC, my first time on clomid (which I ended up doing 3 times in those 150 days!) I also had taken progesterone tablets to bring on AF, still didn't work, also had a Profassi shot (hCG) to make me ovulate to bring on AF, that didn't work either

I have heard other people having success with Natural Progesterone Cream, which is available from Health Food stores. I don't however know much about it, but might be worth looking into if you cycles continue to stay longer.

Also, have you tried any herbal remedies? Vitex is awesome!! I have used that and it bought on AF and also lessened some of the pain from AF.
You can get that from health food stores as well!

    Anyway, hope this has helped!

    Hi there!

It's nice to be able to talk to girls who know all about long cycles.

I'm currently on about CD170 or more?? This is getting close to the worst I've ever had.....

My worst year was the year I went off BCP and ttc in 1997 - I had 2 visits from AF in one whole year!

It took us 4 years, from 1997 to March, 2001 until our first child was born. I've had 3 m/c, although our first in Nov 95 was an unplanned as I was on the BCP and didn't discover I was pg until I was told I'd m/c.

Anyway, I've started taking Metformin again in the last two weeks or so and hoping this helps with some weight loss and maybe ovulation!

Looking forward to talking to you all some more soon!

OMG Lisa, you must be very frustrated at that!!

My longest since we started TTC has been 150 days and boy that was long enough!! I never really paid all that much attention to my cycles before I went on BCP as I thought it was great not having AF arrive LOL ohh how I wish for her to come now though!!

I started taking Metformin just over a month ago now, and I have noticed a bit of a difference. I have lost 3.5kgs in the last 3 weeks, and the only thing I have done differently is take the met, so I am hoping it will shift some more kgs if I got up to a higher dosage!!

Are you TTC? Or just trying to get your body working again??

Look forward to hearing more from you

    Hugs

    Hi again!

Thanks so much for the welcome.

Yes, the long cycles are frustrating, but somehow I've learnt to cope with them..... LOL

Well I'm apprehensive about saying we're ttc, because I don't want my ovaries to hear - they seem to go on strike the minute I require any action from them - LOL - but I have been off the BCP since early this year. We would love another child, but we're not doing anything strict in the way of ttc IYKWIM - I'm not charting; temping or anything like that - we're just doing it the relaxed way - no birth control and lots of um, er, you know what!! LOL

Okay talk to you all again soon. I'm glad to be here.
