Hi there,

I have just been posting in the Long Term TTC and IVF forums, as I am on that merry-go-round at the moment.

I'd love to hear about people's experience with Metformin, in particular whether it was you or your doc's idea to go on it, plus whether only overweight women are seen as 'good' candidates. When I saw my IVF doc I asked about Met, and he said that he'd be willing to put me on it but didn't really think it would do me any good, seeing as I wasn't overweight and didn't have excess facial hair or acne (obviously my make-up works wonders :-$ ). Anyhow, I decided to start an IVF cycle rather than do Met/Clomid (I have already had the 'pleasure' of being on Clomid...am dreading menopause after having that experience...).

I am wondering if there are any docs out there who take the PCOS/diabetes link seriously. I notice on US web forums that that is a big concern, but it doesn't seem to be on the radar here.

For those on Met, can I ask you whether you did the glucose challenge test first and whether you were found to have insulin resistance?

Any information would be greatly appreciated... My IVF cycle wasn't successful and I can't afford to be on the IVF rollercoaster so am now wondering whether Met might be something that could work for me.

Thanks!
