I was wondering if anyone with endo has late ovulation? I don't ovulate to day 22/23. Also, the pain and cramping around this time is so bad it makes sex painful. Is it possible to get pregnant under these conditions?
Having said the above, I have one child, conceived naturally on day 22 with a history of endo (not removed but after zoladex). But, I didn't have the pain and cramping around ovulation that I do now.
Hi Michelle,
I wanted to just reply as it sucks waiting for someone to write when you are waiting with anticipation.
I don't know if i can help you with anything other than encouragment. I have endo too but my cycles are regular 28-30 days in length. I do want to ask though, Where is it painful? And ovulating this late in your cycle make the cycle how long?
I know my cervix get quite tender before ovulation and if my bowels are full that hurts too. i do know that i was having painful intercourse...and therefore not having it...when i had a cyst that was large enough to create pressure. It was leaking into my abdonmen which was not great for me.
We have been trying to fall preg for about 8 years now with no luck so far. I have a good feeling about this month.
I wish you all the best and hope you find the answers.
Jodie, (HIppy Mum- to be)
I tend to ovulate around Day 17 - 20 and I get spotting and cramping around this time too. Sometimes it only lasts a couple of days and returns a few days before my period. Othertimes it lasts all the way through to my period. Also, like HippyMum, my abdomen tends to hurt if my bowel/bladder are full.
Sorry I'm unable to answer your question...whilst we are not actually TTC, we haven't used any contraception for the past 18 months and I've never fallen pregnant...yet....anything is possible
I actually wrote that email June 4th! So thankyou....I had another brainwave and postered my question (just about late ov) in the 1st trimester preg section. I had quite a few replies from women with no troubles conceiving on late ov cycles so that part of the whole 'mess' seems okay I think. Yes, I get abdo and bowel pain too around ovulation, then it goes. I used to think - how is it that I always have 'fibre' issues at this time of the month (lol) but now I know it is not the case.
Jodie, I hope your good feeling about this month pays off. The waiting sucks although I have only been waiting 20mths and of course already have a beautiful girl. IT is interesting to know you have regular cycles. I wondered whether the endo was causing too much estrogen thus delaying ovulation??? I wonder lots of things about endo. It may just be my body because I have had longer cycles since my 1st period when I was 17 (not diagnosed until 22).
Lyn, have you started IVF? If so how are you going with your journey?
Hey Guys,
Lyn,The discomfort your feel around ovulation when you need to be randy and ready! so to speak must be a bit of a mood breaker. I hope your IVF goes well. We are looking further into it now and will try and register for the 1st NHS treatment very soon when we move.
In saying that, i am on day 20 now with good high temp and went to the toilet earlier to find spotting. Now it is different to other months as it is anough to reach my knickers. Also i don't usually spot much at all but if i do it is around day 24 just a few days before my period. I have never felt so excited in my whole entire life. I hope and believe it is implantation bleeding. We may have made it and i am feelign really good about it. Will let you know as soon as i know!!! I am hopeless at keeping secrets. This will be the miracle we were looking for!! Michelle, did you have implantation symptoms?
Mich - haven't started IVF yet, hopefully next year. DP wants to have children too, I just have to convince him to do it sooner rather than later The wait can be very frustrating at times because I know 9 couples who are pregnant!
Hippy Mum - thanks...I guess it can be but I have learnt to switch the discomfort off
It's good to not give up hope isn't it - Jodie I guess if your cycles are normal then day 20 is around 6-7 dpo right? it very well could be an implantation bleed - cross fingers for you that is exactly what it is....
When I was very early pregnant with DD (before can do test) I didn't have implantation bleed but I recall a very different cycle to usual. My AF is due about the same time as you Jodie and believe it or not, I have a feeling I may be pregnant too. Mainly because I have a feeling of de ja vu to those early days with DD. This time around I had some extremely mild AF type feelings around 5 dpo and a bit more today. The main thing for me, as for you, is that something 'not normal' has happened this cycle and thats worth hoping about.
I did a google search 'early pregnancy symptoms' and a few good sites came up. I love to dream, I buy pregancy magazines even though I'm not pregnant yet - just to keep me hoping and 'expecting' that it will happen (eventually). So here's to dreams and hope!!!
Lyn, at my last ob/gyn appt he said that IVF had good results with endo at age 30 - your age I think (and mine). His clinic has a 70% success rate first go when the women with endo is around 30 - 31yrs which is a great statistic. I had no idea it was that high. I don't know though if that was also taking into account that I had had a recent lap and excision of endo and already had a child (semi naturally). Anyway, hopeful stats. Good luck convincing DP. Let us know how you go.
Mich
PS I just read your post in newbie endo stage 5 Jodie, no I didn't laugh (exactly). I am one with the lunar cycle and have a chart done up by my natropath to chart my fertile times according to my lunar cycle. It is possible to spontaneously ovulate during your lunar cycle which theoretically gives you two chances to conceive during one cycle or one 'extra fertile' chance if your lunar cycle and ovulation are at the same time. Interestingly my lunar cycle finished the day before I ovulated this cycle.... anyway I digress
I have talked to my natropath about using the lunar cycle to change my ovulation ie moon/light and she hasn't been entirely keen because she said it can throw your cycle out of wack - some extra long and some extra short which given that my cycle is regular (so to speak) she didn't want to make it any harder to conceive (by having irregular cycles). But, having said that, I will definitely ask her about what you said at our next appt (not for another 7wks though).
Hi Mich,
Thank you for your reply. It would be great to find out we are preg together. I am praying for you too. AF would be coming about 28-29 of this month. I am day 23 now and increasingly getting more and more excited and at the same time nervous. My temp is still up. I must confess though that i have only just started recording the time of temp which makes it far more accurate so i can't really compare my temps for other months anymore. I feel like i wasted so much work not being accurate enough but anyway, moving on.
I am going to post a new thread as i have a bowel movement question!! Nice! I want to knwo how soon hormone levels can start to affect your bowel movements as for the last few days everything has really slowed down and more difficult to pass and i am normally as regular as clockwork!! Anyway i will find somewhere to put this, maybe your brainwave of first trimester would be good as they may know!!
As for lunar cycles, you are right...don't fix it if it is not broken! If you are regularly ovulating late and know when that will be every month than tha is all you need to know really. The rest doesn't matter, as everyones cycles vary. I have just started using it to make sure that i actually ovulate when i am expected to. Sometimes us girls miss a month! I wanted to increase the chance. Most of the year i ovulate around day 14 and once or twice it appears i might have ovulated twice in the month. It is truely fascinating! I found that using the calendar to conceive just added more pressure to us as far as having to bed certain times of day. It was full on enough but i believe in it. We are just out of touch these days living the lives we live.
Your natropath sounds switched on. You are very lucky.
Lots of love good luck and baby dust being blown your way over the ocean.
all the best
Jodie, Hippy MUM

Good luck with it. All i can say the sooner the better for us. Sometimes nerves and fear can really stop you from doing what might be important. I know for my hubby, he took a long time to come aroudn 100% and now he looks back and wants to kick himself up the bum as he was just being chicken and wanting too much to be planned and set up etc etc. The thing is for us, he came around more and more as he was told more often, we might not be able to fall preg naturally...then he would start saying...no one is going to tell me we can't have kids, i want one now!! God he is hilarious and i love him. I hope it makes you laugh. I was ready at 18!!! Although we would not change our journey. And cannot wait to have a baby!
Good Luck hun and we hope for you the very best. IVF is full on but brief and all worth it in the end...i hear! Good luck for next year.
Love JOdie (Hippy Mum)
constipation type sympton definitely common. I and my sister both got it and we are both regular fibre nuts so to speak! I actually got loose motions just before found out pregnant though (not diarhoea). Good idea to post in first tri, I love getting their feedback because it is all so fresh for them. They have been very supportive in my 'am I pregnant' post too.
Hi girls,
I didn't know who to ask or where to post so i thought I would come in here and ask for your opinions... I just want to tell you what happened to me on the weekend.
On Sat night DF and I had sex and did it our normal positions, nothing out of the usual, just regular sex basically, and as we thrusted, i felt a stabbing pain on my right side like he was poking one of my organs or something, around my appendix area i think. i think it was up higher than my ovaries but still i am worried. Again last night when we DTD, it happened again, same area, it hurt. we changed angles, and that helped so it wasn't as painful but it was still there IYKWIM.... well i hope it's not Endo, i have no history of it or problems with fertility that i am aware of, i had U/S to check it all out 6mths ago but nothing showed (routine test)... also i am due for my period so thought maybe that is something to do with it?
Today i have rather small menstrual type cramps, as AF is due anyway so thats to be expected. I'm not on the pill either, went off it 4mths ago.
I figured either a) I have an ectopic pregnancy or b)endo or c)just menstrual discomfort.... what do you girls think?
Should i see a gyno about it? This is the only time it has happened to me. Sex has never been uncomfortable before, ever.
I'm a bit scared so please don't tell me it sounds like i have endo... also, i know that the only way they can determine if you have endo or not, is by 'laparoscopy'... not by symptoms or anthing as in most cases there are no symptoms is there?!?
Michelle – those stats sound very promising. I think I’ll keep those in mind instead of the ones the fertility specialist told me. After I had my lap, the fertility specialist said it would be a 30% chance after age 30 and probably wouldn’t happen on the first go. I like your stats better
HippyMum – that does make me laugh and DP is fantastic with our nieces and nephews. I know that it’s not a matter of IF…it’s only when I can’t wait.
Renstar – if the pain doesn’t go away I’d see a doctor. I sometimes get similar pains and I think it just depends on the position of my cervix during the month. But if it doesn’t go away it could be a number of things…but just for your peace of mind it might be best to see a doc....I know it’s very hard not to, but try not to stress about what it could be…when you’re feeling better you’ll be wondering what you were worrying about :P
Hey Lyn, yup, take my stats they do sound good don't they? Each clinic is different depending on success rates. Mine are Sydney IVF rates based on 2nd pregnancy, 'straight forward endo (doesn't seem straight forward to me lol!), age, great sperm - if I remember correctly from last visit.
Renstar - You are young. Like Lyn said could be lots of things, could be nothing. I'd give it 6mths trying then see a doc if no luck. Also why not see your GP for reassurance - if you've got a women's health GP I am sure they could help you and not so bad as going to a Ob/gYN.
thanks Lynny and Michelle :hugs: Yep i dont think a doc or GP would even take me seriously anyway! they would say go home and try for 6-12mths first!!! you are right. DF and I haven't done the deed (hehe) since Sun night as i'm scared it will hurt! But i'll give it another go in couple days and see how i go... Im still waiting for AF to arrive shes late!!! ggrrr
Good luck to you both, you are both wonderful people that deserve the best in life I hope you get your BFPs real soon....
