LC suggested a better brand shield, but the wrong size so not much success....
Then some loverly lady just happened to gift me the smaller one and it worked right off the bat!!!

I know it may not go that way every time but I'm so pleased

    Thank you.

We now feed straight from the breast exclusively
We have to use a nipple Shield as he still won't take the nipple so our next mission is to get off that.
He is still a little fussy at some feeds and falls asleep alot but we are doing our best to fill him up as he has until thurs to get back to his birth weight. If he isn't by then I guess we will have to reintroduce the ebm.
Should be ok tho, he poos and pees heaps and doesn't cry so he can't be going hungry

I'm just so happy tonight I thought I'd share....
W fed shield free tonight. Twice!!!
I cried the whole time I was so happy. My nips feel a bit shredded now tho, but oh so worth it
I'm looking forward to seeing if he will continue to feed without the shield. FX

Don't get carried away here mate - keep some shield feeds until the no-shield feeds aren't shredding!

Yeah I have some cream. Not going as well today I'm afraid
He latched on once but let go and wouldn't take it back.
But I'm hopeful we will get there

    Yay wtg!
Just keep in mind that it can take up to 6weeks to successfully accomplish breastfeeding as your both learning how to! Your Doing an amazing job and should be very proud of your self
To help the nipples, rub some ebm into them and leave them out to try a couple of times a day

Glad to hear that you are having success with the shields.

don't rush getting him off them, trust me I used them til for up to 12 weeks til my son managed to really get the hang of it and I knew he was latching on properly.

So happy to hear that it is all working out.

    Enjoy your breastfeeding!!!
