    Kids sharing room

I was hoping my kids could share a room
Dd is almost 5 months and ds 21months

But when one cries at night the other wakes up so we had a few wake ups last night

I'm not sure this is going to work out

What age did you get your kids to share?
Any tips that might make this work or is it impossible?

    Kids sharing room

Give it time, they get used to each others presence and stop waking with the other.

Mine shared when 12 months and 3 years, DS still wakes sometimes but doesn't wake DD unless it's close to morning e.g 6 etc. She would sleep a little longer in morning if he didn't wake early. She never wakes him. No real tips mine have always not been disturbed by noises as noisy flat, when DS in with us could go into bed and talk etc and wouldn't wake . We didn't try putting together earlier really just due to visitors and easier for me to deal with him overnight in our room.

We have moved her out because she's almost outgrown her bassinet and I'm getting tired of worrying about every little noise waking her
The other night she woke because you can hear the neighbors quite loudly in our room because they like to sit and talk in their yard till at least 11pm and also whenever they have sex she screams and it's loud in our room
I don't feel that I should tell them to keep it down either because it's a normal amount of noise it just happens to travel really well to our house and is louder by the time it gets here
We do plan on moving in March but that's a while yet

Mine were in the same room from day one until we moved into this house when they were 9 and 7. Didn't have any issues.

Hope you manage to sort it out.

My eldest girls shared a room when they were 3 and 4 for about 6 months. Then again for around 8 months when they were 5 and 6. They both have their own room now.

However DD2 will start sharing with DD3 in the next month or so. She's a heavy sleeper so hoping bub won't wake her.

I avoid room sharing when possible, but I only have 4 bedrooms so no choice

All 3 of my kids are in the same room and they love it!! DD 6, DS1 4 & DS2 22months. No-one wakes the other ones up and they sleep beautifully. We have asked DD & DS1 if they want their own room but no-one wants to move out, LOL!! At the moment it works and so we aren't changing it.
It took under a week for them to get used to it.

I think if dd wasn't still waking at least once anight for a feed it wouldn't be an issue but when she does she wakes ds I guess I'll give it a week and see how things go but I'm so tired already I really can't be bothered

I waited until the older child was sleeping well, and the younger was able to get out of bed and come to me when he woke. I can't imagine having baby in another room and getting up regularly, even though I know heaps of people do it.

my ds still comes to us most nights, but having a few hours break at the start of the night is lovely. are you able to set up 2 sleep spaces, and when baby wakes first, she comes to you? over time, you can work on them being more settled together.

Mine have been sharing since just before they were 2 and 4yrs. They like sharing and rarely wake each other up (until morning when the first one awake wakes the other up to play, lol).

Since they were 12m and 4y - they don't wake each other and even let the other sleep if one wakes first ( they get alone time with mum or dad so they like that)

I had 4 of mine in one room together for almost 2 years. Between nightmares, wet beds and illness there is one waking most nights and calling for me but they hardly woke each other during the night.

i have all three in the same room. i guess they get used to the crying and learn to sleep through as we havent really had any issues. on the odd occasion that one of the big kids might wake from the baby they immediately go back to sleep once i tell them that it's just the baby and to go back to sleep.

when DD2 was born she was moved in at 5 months and DD1 was 3.5

when DD3 was born she was moved in around 7 (?) months...but we do a lot of co-sleeping with her due to her health issues (so she usually ends up in our bed at some point after 2-3am lol).

our girls have had to share due to us living in a 2 bedroom place. but we are about to move to a 6 bedroom place and i am 99% sure that they will continue to sleep all in the same room. they love it, i love it (less crap to clean in various rooms )

Thanks I think I'll keep at it last night went better only one wake up from dd for a feed and ds didn't seem too bothered
I'll keep putting her in our room after her feed so she doesn't disturb ds in the morning until she completely outgrows her bassinet

How do you navigate day naps with two in a room?

I used to put DS to sleep on our bed in the daytime so I
didn't have to keep DD1 out of her own (their) room. Was just easier.
