Question once you know your family is complete...

how do you deal with others around you having kids???

we think we've finished having kids, (heart says yes head says no more) but i know when family start having kids i know i'll feel sad/jealous etc... my SIL is pregnant but other than that my girls are the only grandkids on both sides, i felt jealous when they announced they were pregnant, jealous taht i dont get to go through pregnancy and birth again.
    does/will it get easier??

i know exactly what you mean.
we are finished too, but whenever we talk about the possibility that bil and sil will have kids soon, i get soooo jealous! especially cos wer'e conviced they'll have a girl! i mean, i'll be thrilled for them...and i can't wait to share it all with them, but i still get jealous.

We havent finished yet but probably will in another year or 2. Meanwhile most of our friends are only just getting married or not even in long term relationships yet... which means they will be starting their families once our youngest is probably about to start school. It makes me sad, and Im sure I will be a bit envious at the time but such is the way our lives have worked out. Anyway, you never know what might happen. I know plenty of families who had 'finished' only to have an extra edition turn up later on

We are so undecided about this. Heath is happy with just 2, me, I'd love to have 4. Financially, we're better to stick with just 2, but my head and my heart keeps saying MORE, MORE! I get so jealous whenever I see someone pregnant, I would love to give birth again. My sister is about 10 weeks now, and so I wish that could be me going through it again.
Sorry, didn't answer your question though.

thanks everyone, glad its not just me! i am more and more content with my two girls and to be honest if we did have another we'd want another girl!

ginger, i think they'll have boys too

salsa i do admit when friends are just starting i think we'll past all the baby stuff, kids will be more independant and we can look forward to bigger things like holidays etc..

jodi were the same, finacially its easier with just two

I used to feel that pang of jealousy even when I was inbetween pg's and babies LOL. I honestly don't know if it ever goes away, even if you are happy and complete with the number you have, or that you know you are done having babies for other reasons (financial etc) I think mainly because you know what an amazing time of your life it is to first be pg and then to give birth kwim?

I used to feel a little jealous when my kids were younger but now I don't. I am loving the stages my kids are at. They can make their own breakfasts, get in and out of the car themselves etc. I could never go back to having babies. I adore babies, there's nothing better than snuggling a newborn. I just don't want one of my own anymore.

I know exactly what you mean hun. And I have struggled with it. But now as DS2 gets more and more independent, and I've finally been able to bring myself to give away and sell the baby things, it has gotten easier. My sister is pg now and I am feeling pretty ok about not having more now. I can't say that I never have pangs, but they are certainly easing.

I am in the same position, while i am very happy with our three, i would still love just one more.. But we have decided that our family is complete as it is best for the three we have.
I just keep hoping my brother wont have any more children as i am sure i will be jealous.

I'm kind of in the same place as Tinkerbell. I love huggling babies but I love my life the way it is too much to want to go back to the dramas of coping with a baby.
Sometimes I think that it would be nice to have another but it never lasts for long.
2 years I really wanted another baby but now I'm really glad I didn't.

maybe its because we wont experience the joys of having the opposite sex to what we have

absolutly!! DH and i have often spoken of the euphoria of a newborn, but i have to remember babies turn in to toddlers who eventually turn into teenages!!

Just remember its not totally ruled out so you can always say to yourself maybe one day.
I'm 99% sure 2 is it, I found it really hard with a toddler and newborn and don't want to do that again.
Plus the financial side of things, I'd like to get our house paid off quicker, go on holidays etc.
I get excited with others getting pregnant cause it means I can snuggle with babies and give them back when they get overtired and know I don't have to be up all night with them, tho atm I'm not getting all that much sleep with my 6 mth old!
