Varying age gaps between siblings- your experiences?

There's 5years difference between my sibling and I. I am the eldest. We got along wonderfully. We did most things together, hilarity always ensued. Of course we did fight but it was definitely the exception not the norm. The only time we really had problems was when I got a boyfriend in my late teenage years, there was jealousy of the boyfriend. We're still good friends now.

I believe our personalities played a large part, along with my mothers parenting.

My elder brothers are really close in age, 14 months apart. I am 7 years younger than the eldest.

I loved the age gap. I never felt left out. To me it was great because they cared for me, but as we got older we were still all great friends.

From what they say they enjoyed mum having a baby when they were that age because they understood more and appreciated a baby.

I second what Connie said only im the one that's left out. there is 4 years between myself and my older brother and 3 years between me and my younger sister and despite being 7 years apart my brother and sister get along better than I do with either of them, its not that I don't love them or anything its simply a personality thing, my brother and sister are very outgoing and loud and in your face whereas im shy and I sit back ITMS? also my kids are 14 months apart so youd think theyd get along great right? wrong!! they definitely fight more than they play nicely
