That is exactly what I do and it works a treat. I have such a small amount of water in the kettle too, just enough to cover what i need to use, and to not burn the kettle out. I have the formula measured out and ready to go, as my DS only really need a bottle maybe once a week in the night now, so this is the easiest way for us.We put a bottle in the fridge with cooled boiled water in it, and leave about 50-70 mls free and then we just boil the kettle. If we boil it before we go to bed, it doesn't take that long to boil again (mind you, we go to bed at like 11.30 or something!) so she's only really waiting about a minute. Then we put in the formula and make it up fresh.
Ever since I put DS1 on formula I have always warmed up his boiled water for 30 secs in the micro and then added the formula! DF always makes DS3's bottles with cooled boiled water and it just doesn't mix right!
we used to heat the water up in the microwave then add the formula at night.
thanks guys
caus im staying at mum and dads and its pretty hectic ive been making up all her bottles for the day and putting in the fridge (the tin says its ok to fridge them for upto 24 hrs)....having an baby-intolerant dad (my dad) and my sister, i cant afford to have DD cry AT ALL!!! but will prob do the microwaving of water THEN adding formula for that 1 feed when i move into my friends and being quiet as a mouse isnt such an issue![]()
I believe it is more about the chemicals leeched from the plastic by microwaving than the effect on the milk - at least I thought so. I know some parents who have gone back to glass bottles for this reason.
I heat the water in the microwave then add the formula.
I have one of those container things where you hold the formula for when you go out so at night I put the required amounts scoops in so when she wakes for a night feed all I have to do is quickly heat the water in the microwave dump in the premeasured powder and shake. Easy and fast.
