What flowers to plant?

Another question for BBer's who love their flowers. We would like to plant some green leafy plants which look lush all year round which also have beautiful flowers on it. Ideally I would like something to be flowering in the garden all year round (if that's possible) and for the plants we have in the garden to have different coloured flowers so we have some variety. As far as size goes anything up to about 80cm high or smaller would be ideal. Thanks for any suggestions
