    PreNatal Classes/Baby group

    Hi everyone,

This is partly a message for Kate and Anna who I met at a PLP meeting. I can't work out how to do private messages. But I hope what I'm saying is relevant to other people.

I should introduce myself a bit - My partner and I are expecting our first baby on feb 4th 2009 which is exciting! We're in inner city Melbourne.

We tried to enrol in Choice for Childbirth in Northcote but they're booked out in September - the next one is after baby is due so unfortunately we won't see Kate and Anna there.

I was given the details of Cindy Scott, a Midwife and Childbirth Educator. She runs Proud and Pregnant at Thornbury Women's Neighbourhood House, when she gets enough demand. Her contact details are: 9443 0163. I've called her and left details so if there are any other pregnant lesbians out there looking for a class you might want to consider calling her.

I know that from previous messages there was some talk of setting up a lesbian mum's group for those of us due around the same time - I'd definitely be up for that.

If anyone wants to email me direct it's millyhannan[AT]yahoo.com (just replace the [AT} with @).

    Cheers
    Van

    Thanks Van!
We are due a couple of weeks before you, so would love to go to the same classes, but it gets tricky getting to Melbourne in time as we live in Country Victoria. We will give her a call and see what times are possible.
Definitely in for a lesbian Mum's group, we are in Melbourne for our Ob's appointment at the Mercy on September 4th ( Thursday, I think I've got the date right... ) so if anyone is around for a coffee, it would be great to get the ball rolling......

Oh I just got this now - Shame you can't book in with us in September. I feel like we are leaving it so late though so it will be good to go to one at the time of your pleasing. We've just had a few friends deliver early (5 wks and 7wks!) and I'm freaking out that I could be in the labour ward in less than 3 weeks time. eeek!

So my nesting hormones have kicked in and I've dragged poor anna's ass into ikea first thing on a Saturday morning to get organised. Note: do NOT go to IKEA on a weekend! The place is full of rabid pregnant women and screaming children hell bent on making the experience a nightmare! But we now have built in wardrobes for our room (still flat packed and awaiting allen key construction), a cot and some storage for little Hugo. I also got 8 boxes of clothes donated from a friend so he can wear a new outfit just about every day for the first 6 months.

Sally, I have a big work thing September 4 so can't make it unfortunately. Can't wait till the end of September when I finish up and park myself on the couch for a few weeks. Well thats the plan anyway.

Hope yr all keeping well. Let me know what yr up to.

Good to hear from you Kate, glad you made the dash to Ikea to get cot etc
I'm sure we will all catch up soon, hope Hugo stays in there for a bit longer though so you can have some couch time!

    Hiya girls!

great to hear you are all getting organised and linking up for your mums groups once your bubs are born. That would be fantastic if we had something like that up here but unfortunately haven't heard of anything. Anyway, ages away yet to worry bout that kinda stuff. Good luck to everyone and enjoy your classes

    Cheers,

    Leanne

The Birth Options workshop is run in the BellyBelly Centre and is awesome - great speakers even some who present at Choices. In September we even have the awesome Henci Goer coming over from the USA - 20 Strategies to Avoid a Caesarean Section which all expectant couples need to come to!

You can see the details of Birth Options and Henci at https://www.bellybelly.com.au/pregnancy-centre

We should start a lesbian group in the BB centre!
