Hey mum+mum, unfortunately we weren't successful on try no.1, but we've just tried for the second time so I'm in the ttw again. This time we tried at home insem over three days so hopefully that improves our chances.

I'm a little concerned about my ovulation prediction. I'm using the iP app to track my cycle and symptoms so thought I was ok as far as knowing when the best time to try was - we tried the two days prior to and day of predicted ovulation days, but I don't know on which day I've ovulated. I'm using the pee on a stick ovulation predictor thing-a-ma-jig but am not getting clear results. I'm confused. I've now bought a basal thermometer so I can track my temperature because otherwise I feel like I'm never quite sure and then I feel so guilty about our donor dad flying down to Melbourne every month while I'm not 100% sure of the best days to try. Aggh, sorry for the confused rant. I'd appreciate ant advice!

In the meantime I'm holding out on doing a pregnancy test early this time, I'd kind of rather not know if I'm not pregnant, so for now I'll enjoy imagining cells multiplying until AF is due.

    Thanks for thinking of me!!

    Hey caz.
The ovulation predictor kits (wee on a stick) are true as they are measuring the leutinizing hormone which triggers ovulation.
Why do you feel you are not getting clear results?
Remember, don't do it first thing in the morning. Do th at say 2pm and again at 8pm if you can afford that many sticks. And do it at the same times everyday. If they aren't coming up as dark or darker than the test line then keep going with them for a few more days. This is what happened to me. What I discovered was that I had a 30 day cycle and instead of ovulating day 14 or 15 like most books etc say, I was actually ov on days 20 and 21 so I would have missed by nearly 7 days.
My test results on the opks were 'nearly' positive so I kept using them and low and behold, 6 days later, a super strong dark line signaling the leutinizing hormone was being released and I would ov 24- 48 hrs after that.
Why aren't you getting clear results?????
Fingers crossed for this time though!!!

Fingers crossed for you, the TWW is horrible and frustrating. I used the basal thermometer to track mine the only problem is that it tells you after the fact. The good thing is at least you can be sure it has happened. There is lots of good advice in the trying to conceive and TWW sections as well. GOOD LUCK for this month and hopefully you wont need to predict any more
