Hey Freya,

I used to belong to a Fernwood when I lived in the City (the one at Broadway). I went every 2nd day, did about 30-40 mins cardio then about 20 mins weights. I didnt have kids then, or a partner so I had loads of time to invest there. I never did classes - not really my thing.

For me, the pros were:
You could meet with a Team Member (they have a special name but I can't remember it) anytime top talk about what you do there. They can go through and work out a circuit for you, show you how to use the machines, etc.
The membership I had I was able to see a Personal Trainer 12 times a year (so once a month) which I got heaps out of.
WOmen only - loved this, don't fancy working out with guys, just a personal preference.
Lockers, showers, etc.

Cons were:
I had four different trainers in the 12 months I went - they had a high turnover of staff at my Fernwood, which says something about the place, not sure what though.
My Fernwood was a bit small (being in the city) and when it got busy it was packed! I prefered to go when it was dead quiet.

Ummm... can't think of much more. You would probably get more out of it if you went to classes, I just don't really liek them is all

HTH!
