The answer is never. You never retract the foreskin. It is like a finger just wash it. It self cleans and will retract when it's ready to. It can cause infection and be very painfully if you retract it when it's not ready as the skin is still fused to the penis.

really boomba... i was watching embarrassing bodies the other night and the doctor on there said men should always retract it and wash but to always put it back over. is this not right? im very curious now.

Lulliloo I think that Men should but not boys. It is still attached to the penis for a long time. I dont really know though my DS10 would never show me now so im not sure if his is still attached a bit? I dont think so though but my DS7 is.

There is a lot of mis information when it comes to the care of the penis. The article I posted explains a lot. The retraction of an intact foreskin can cause scaring etc. it doesn't need to be retracted to be cleaned. And only the owner should do it! I think as an adult you can pull it back and wash it but as a child no.

I think you could start talking about it approaching puberty, just like many self care things that come up at puberty.

My son has baths, so I figure it gets cleaned while hes sitting in there. From that article, you'll probably cause more problems if you clean it.
