Fitting in exercise with young kids?

Could you please tell me how you do it, as I need some inspiration. I know that for good health I need to exercise but I never find time to fit it in. I have a very demanding 2 year old and a DH who gets home late from work. I find it impossible to get up early in the morning. I know something has to change, how do you find it easiest to exercise?

ive found throwing the kids in the pram and going for a walk for 1/2 hour to 1 calming....both for them and me. Ive got a rain cover for the pram so no cold wind can get to them and i just power along......
love it, I cleans my mind, get out of the house and most importantly....getting exercise

if your finding it hard to get the motivation...make sure that you have something you have to do while your out on your walk...eg get milk from coles, shop, post a letter anything.

    and it does work

I used to use the Wii Fit when Zander was sleeping, he doesn't anymore, so that's out. Maybe you could try something like that, or get an exercise DVD to try.

Another good tip I've heard, but never used myself is The Wiggles exercise method (LOL). What you do is put on a Wiggles DVD and copy all of the dance actions for the duration of the DVD. It will give you a pretty good 30-60 minute workout & I'm sure DS will enjoy it too

DVDs sounds like a good idea. I might give the wiggles a try!

Is the Wii fit any good? It is expensive, is the cost justified?

I am currently on a weightloss journey and was struggling to find motivation when I started. My DH also works long hours and I won't go out walking on my own after dark. But I have a treadmill (which I got 2 Christmas' ago) and I now jump on the treadmill every night after DD has gone to bed (so about 730-8pm) for anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes. It was a struggle at first but it is now part of my routine.

To keep your motivation, set yourself small goals and celebrate each one.

    HTH and good luck!

    I struggle too....

We recently bought a Wii and I borrow a Fit board. Although I love it, I didn't use it! Jake is 14 months and it was impossible to do when he was awake cos he'd climb on the board. Then when he was in bed I had a million things to do and then when he was in bed at night I just wanted to watch tv, not watch Wii! pathetic but there you go...

I run 3x a week (evenings when DH is here or early morning before anyone else is up, and on Sunday when DH can look after DD, though actually i have a babyjogger pram and have run about 300miles pushing it - where i live ATM is too hilly to push her most of the time but we're moving again soon...) and row 3x a week on a rowing machine. I also have freeweights i can do some lifting of when i'm in the mood, usually after DD is in bed.
