Good on you love. Giving up must be so hard but as someone who has also hard to fight addiction demons in the past I know you can do it.
If you need extra help acupuncture can be a natural way of helping addictions. There are some special pressure points that you can rub when you need to as well.
Keep up the good work!
Hun, well done on getting this far. You are doing sensationally. It is such a hard thing to do. Especially breaking the associations. Hang in there. You can do this!!!
Well done. You can do it, so stick at it!! The first 5 days are the hardest and once you get over the 2 week mark it gets a *lot* easier because you're getting out of the habit. I found brushing my teeth when I got a craving helped. Didn't want to stink up my nice clean mouth after that. Also chewing gum is great. Try not to do anything stressful in the first week. Stress triggers cravings real bad. If you start getting worked up, stop, take a breather, get some fresh air & stay away from smoking triggers/areas. These are the things that helped me.
Well done, and good on you for taking that first step. It's much easier to say oh I'll quit one day...than actually saying I will quit today and follow through. You should be proud of your efforts so far, sounds like you are going great.
DF is a smoker and I hate it, not only for what it is doing to his health, but also what it is potentially doing to mine and DD's health, and our future. Sadly he doesn't see it that way though. But it's one of those things where you have to want to do it, it's no good if someone else wants it for you!
Congrats for taking the plunge and best wishes in your quitting journey, I'm sure it will be tough but you know you have our support!
This will undoubtedly be one of the best decisions you have made. I quit in November 2005 (so just over 4 years ago - go me!) and I can reiterate what others have said - the 3's are the hardest!
Take each day as it comes and replacing the cravings/thoughts with a glass of water is a great suggestion.
Congrats on making the decision and I know you will do fine......just keep telling yourself you are no longer a smoker. Everytime you want one tell yourself you are no longer a smoker, when I first stopped nearly 3 years ago, I think for the first week atleast I repeated it about 200 times a day! But it gradually got easier......
