Recently my neck has been going red whenever I am under stress... like when I am speaking to my doctor or someone new. People are starting to say "why is your neck red?" It's sooo embarrassing! It's kind of like a blush i guess.... but not on my face, just my neck... and it's blotchy.
Bath- i don't have this myself but a friend does. I think it is similar physiologically to a face blush, but happens on the neck. I think it is pretty normal, although it does seem wierd that it has only recently started. Not that i know anything about the onset of blushing, but i would presume it wouldn't just start for no apparent reason.
Are you more anxious or stressed than usual? That can effect blushing.....
(She also gets a red blotch on one arm and her neck if she has champage......wierd!)
The worst thing is, as you become more aware of it, and people point it out, it probably gets worse. It's a vicious cycle. Nothing worse than people pointing out wierd things on your face. I have a vein in the middle of my forehead that becomes prominent when i am stressed or laugh too much(often). People are forever pointing it out.
I know how you feel, for me it's my face, but I also have a friend who gets a really red blotchy neck! I think the more you try to stop it from happening, the more it happens
Ohhhh Bath, yep I get this sometimes, I go red even when I'm not embarrassed, or don't realise I'm embarrassed, and then I go redder thinking 'crap! Why am I going red?' :P
As well as myself, I have a couple of friends where we're all a bit red and blotchy on our decolletage in our wedding photos! Like during the signing of the register photos, where everyone comes up to take a picture. Annoying!
I'm really sorry that I don't have any solutions...but you're definitely not the only one.
It may not be the reason but both my parents would get a similar thing and it would just be on their necks and they found that it was from one of the chemicals/preservatives in red wine...might be in other foods as well.
Bath, I knew a couple of people at school who used to get this - was more from nerves/stress than embarassment eg when they had to get up and talk in front of others, sitting exams etc. I don't know any "cures" for you though cause I got the impression the more they knew it was happening the worse it became. If they were able to relax it would slowly go.
