    I'm a size what?!!!

I went shopping today... 4 months post baby and am a bit sick of wearing the same cr@ppy clothes, alot of them still maternity.

Before I was pg I was a size 10, post baby I feel that maybe I might be a size 12, a bit bigger round the hips (love handles).

So I go into Just jeans, try on 3/4 cargos and 3/4 jeans in a size 12 (I definatly know I was a 10 in JJ before pg as I bought a new pair of cargos then found out I was pg and then caught them on something, they are ruined!... anyway) tried on a size 12, couldn't do them up, I am a size 14
Not that this is a bad thing so no offence intended to anyone .
I weighed 79kgs the morning of having my DD, are the sizes really out of wack or am I really a size 14?

All of that said, I bought the size 14 cargos and jeans and they are fab, I love them and they make my butt look great (if I may say so myself! ), so really the number on the tag really does not matter as I feel great in them, just shocked I suppose.

I think this turned into a vent.... thanks for reading.

    The sizes are RIDICULOUS.

Work this out - I'd say I'm really about a 12. On the same day I tried on about 18 pairs of black pants, I could be anything up to a 16, 14s were mainly fitting me.......and the only pair that didn't look friggen ridiculous on me were a size 10 in the petite section at Myer

    HOW DOES THAT WORK???

The sizes are out of wack - definitely! I completely agree with Lulu and have that same experience most of the time when I shopped pre-pg! Anything from a 10 to a 16 here! Currently, now that I'm pg, my sizing has actually stabilised at about a 12 it seems in mat clothing. Totally bizarre! It's frustrating that they only let you take in 3 or 5 things at a time to change rooms when you need that many items just to try on one style!!

Sizes are insane, I'm anything from a size 14 to an 18 these days. Standardized sizing doesn't exist in Australia and I suspect it's the same situation in other countries. I guess just average out what size you usually wear? Some places also have charts where they show what measurements correlate with what size, though I've found them to be pretty inaccurate personally.

Jeans West have the tiniest sizes ever! I need to add 2 sizes whenever I go in there (which I no longer do for that reason lol!)

Has anyone noticed as well that in the same jeans, sizes vary between short leg, average and long leg? I bought two pairs of jeans in exactly the same style and size, except one was a regular leg and one was short, and the short legs are at least a size smaller than the regular, wtf? It reminds me of the way cup sizes change with the bust sizes (e.g. a 16E will have a bigger cup than a 12E)

Yeah I have and personally I like it, being a shorty I can now get pants that do not drag! When I was pg I had a pair of maternity jeans that I loved but they were to long, I never noticed how much they dragged until one day a rude lady at work went out of her way to say 'do you like your pants dragging on the ground or something?' I looked at her and said I have 6 weeks to go in my pregnancy I am not getting them taken up now. How rude! To make someone feel even worse when they are already stuggling to find clothes to flatter their pg bodies. Anyways a bit off track there So for me, thankyou for creating the short leg!

    hey Deanne,

Your not alone..... I can be anything from a 12-18 depending on where I shop....
The size on the tag doesn't matter in the slightest - it's all about your health and how you feel about yourself!
If you've found a pair of jeans that make your ar$e look great who cares what size they are

i used to be a manager of Jeanswest and i kid you not i used to be their size 6 ... i was a size 8 all through ds pg and NOW after having dd i have no idea what size i am ...

usually im a 12 , was shopping the other day for a dress for the naming day im having this week end , i tried on colthing from size 8 all the way to size 14 ... and i ended up buying a size 12 dress ( i could have gone a 10 , coz of the boobsi need a bigger size ) and a size 14 dress ... the size 12 was city beach ( i NEVER buy from there , but i was desperate ) and the size 14 was valley girl , BUT in kmart i was an 8 in target i was a 10-12 and crossroads i was a 8-10 , and in esprit im a large .. but when buying undies i buy a 14 or a 16 if im buying bonds

so go figure ... its all different i dont take notice of the sizes these days , ive worked in retail too long and know it has alot to do with the maker and the fabric ..

if i went to america i would be a size 8 (au 12) ...but when i was a size 6 i bought clothing that was a 0 .... can you believe that !!!

ps: i am not super skinny and i now weight about 65kgs post pregnancies...

YAY for short legged pants LOL. Being a shorty I used to have my pants drag and then I'd get those holes where they were worn (how exactly DO you take up jeans anyway?)...

I'm wearing a size 12 right now, but I have a size 10 in my cupboard that falls down... WTF?! Though I am inclined to admit I think the sixe 12 sizing is right lol, as much as I'd rather think that the size 10 sizing is right and I'm just too small I have also tried on 14s that are too small... It's friggen ridiculous...

I prefer the way they size mens clothes, with actual measurements, instead of this made up stupid system that isn't regulated in any way shape or form that make ANY woman cringe when they're in the dressing room when the see that tag of the pants they're trying on...
