I went to specsavers and got my new glasses and a pair of prescription sunnies for about $290 all up.

They're great, they're fine, they're loads cheaper than OPSM.

I don't wear them all the time so didn't get my perfect dream frames (would have had to fork out another $100+) but I got perfectly nice ones (I'm pretty fussy) and they've been fine so far (maybe 1 year now?).

And customer service, time spent, etc - all fine too.

I get mine at specsavers and havent had an issues, but they arent bifocals.
Mum took her glasses there, and they looked at them and said they couldnt do the same, and recommended her not to buy theirs, becuase the lenses she had were differnt, and a more precise? not that theirs are bad quality, but they told her that becuase her eyse are used to that type of lens, the ones they had wouldnt cut the mustard.

So it will depend onthe lenses that your DD, or rather her eyes, are used to and whether the specsavers pentax lenses stack up against them

They seem OK if you only have single vision issues, but I reckon if you needed more complex lenses then you'd pay loads more. Just out of curiosity I'm going to call them an see what it would cost for me to get mine and DS's glasses from there. At OPSM we get a further 20% discount because they are the preferred supplier of our health fund (GUHealth) and we get 80% from GU anyway. Specsavers doesn't have a 'deal' with our health fund either. So it will be an interesting comparison

both pairs of my reading glasses are from specsavers. i got 2 pairs for $249! i'm also going to them again on saturday because of my current vision problems. give them a go, the worst that can happen is that you're not happy with them and just go back to OPSM?

love mine! Two pair for $199 when I went, and it was all covered by PHI except for the glare coating which was $50. I wear mine all the time and had more problems with my DKNY ones from OPSM than these ones which are no-namers. They do have lots of brand name ones though, I just liked the look of these ones more!

I went in there yesterday as my glasses keep slipping down my nose. The lady 'tried' to fix them (really I think the screw needs to be tightened), she tried to heat up the wings to curve them round me ears a bit more. She told me that they're too brittle to be fixed. Maybe she just didn't want to fix a pair of glasses they came from somewhere else (lenspro).

I had a look at some of the glasses and asked if I had to have phi to get glasses from them and then she was as nice as pie to me!

I do need some new ones and a check up...

I got my DS's last pair from clearly contacts for $8.84 and that was just the postage they actual glasses were free.

If you have your script I seriously recommend checking them out for a spare pair.
They have heaps of frames to choose from (labels as well) and the lenses are included with 100% money back guarantee if you arent happy with them.

He has no problems with them at all and we get his contacts perscription filled by them too for a fraction of the price of the optometrist.

Spec savers are good, never had a problem. I would suggest everyone get their pescription and buy their glasses online though. I got a FREE $160 (on this particular website... apparently $400 elsewhere) pair of glasses from an online company last week... just had to pay for postage. They arrived yesterday and they are AMAZING!!! Fit perfect, the lenses are perfect, you get a nice cloth, case and little screwdriver with them to adjust the frame if required. They were FANTASTIC!!!!
Every few weeks the company gives away 5,000 pairs of glasses (which is how I got this pair).
I thought Spec savers were great... but this company is EVEN BETTER!! Highly recommend!

im an opsm girl through and through... i work there now but i also used to buy from only there before as well so im not completely biased.
i like the quality and the better brands and we see a lot of spec savers cust at our store that aren't happy.
just make sure that if you are getting quotes that you get like for like. it is really hard to make quotes though until we know exactly what you need and what is most suitable.
if you want any info or even some idea on costs just pm me.

My biased opinion is they are good (my DH has a franchise in the CBD). They are all franchised, so service can vary from one to the other, I haven't heard of any bad service.
They quite often have promo's on where you pay nothing other than your health fund, as in, they swipe the health fund card and that is all you pay.
They have gained alot of preferred suppliers from the Health Funds (Medibank just hopped on board as well), so you will always come out in front.

I have a couple of pairs, I used to be super snob when it came to specs. The quality is good Tinks and the after service is also good. You can be sure too that the frames you get are new, as the ones on the shelf are display stock only.

I also worked in the industry for 10yrs as well, although my DH is up with the new products available.
