Me and a friend have decided to jump back onto the fitness bandwagon. I am determined to get back into shape and back to a size 10 so we have signed up for some classes at our local "Health Temple".
We originally booked in for the Pilates/Stretch class but I noticed they have a spin class on the session prior. So I booked us in for that as well!!
How full on is it?
I haven't exercised in MONTHS so you could say my fitness is at an all time low. Will I be able to keep up?
The trainer said I could take it at my own pace and he would keep a close eye on me because I'm new to it, which made me think it's probably really full on!
So what's it like? Have you done it? Did you enjoy it? Did it work??!!
Oh.. and what should I wear?? Please don't say shorts... my legs are deathly white!
Wear what ever you're comfortable sweating in - shorts ain't so good because they can cause chafing if they rub on the bike seat.
I usually work-out in 3/4 tights even in summer because most gyms have great A/C.
My firts time my instructor warned me that some people find that thier pubic bone and surrounds can feel a bit bruised after the first lesson but I never noticed it.
it is one of the best classes I have ever done! I used to sweat form head to toe and get the best work out! I was doing 3 a week (b4 preg) and I was loosing 3 kgs a week!
I love it but I have taken all of my friends and they only did it once as it was so full on!!
I cant wait to get back into it after bubs is born.
If you are going to do it more than once I bought a gel bike seat pad and it is a bum saver!!
Enjoy your class!

I must admit, I did it once & never again. Just about died haha! If you can keep it up I can definately see how you would burn kg's fast, its such a good work out.
I second what Kafer_Girl said - if you are going to do a few invest in a gel seat - v cheap and oh so comfy!
Yep spinning is hard work but honestly you could cheat and breeze through a class. Don't try and keep up with the instructor, leave the resistance at a pretty constant level (except when you're out of your seat but they'll explain that to you) initially.
I wouldn't wear anything too baggy as it can get caught in the wheels - like Dach said 3/4 tights are good - shorts tend to ride up and you'll be fishing them out your bum!
Make sure you have a bottle of water and a towel, when I come out of a spin class I look like I have had a shower - not a good look!
The most important thing is to turn up at least 10 minutes early so the instructor can set up your seat properly, and listen to how they do it so you can do it on your own the next time. My hip flexors are pretty dodgy and if i'm not at exactly the right hight then I can really hurt myself - same with knees.
Enjoy! It is a heck of a hard class but it really, really works. The weight falls off you! Another thing to keep in mind is if you don't enjoy it then go to a different instructors class. I have been to so many and if it's not a Les Mills RPM class then you really don't know what you are going to get. Instructors freestyle spin classes so they choose the music, chorey, everything. I have been to great instructors xlasses that just don't work in a spin class. So if you don't enjoy - DO give another one a go with a different instructor.
Good luck - yay i'm excited for you!!!
What other classes do they have? If they do Combat you HAVE to try it (it's my favourite can't you tell!).
It was the hardest thing I have ever done! 10 minutes in and I was DYING. I felt really light headed and sick and had to take the resistence right back. I started to panic because I thought I would fall off because I felt so faint so he made me wear a heart monitor!
So I just went at my own pace for the first half of the session and the out of nowhere I got a second wind and powered through the rest of the class. I didn't think it would be so hard!! The instructor said the first one is always the hardest!
I did a stretch pilates class after which I'm thankful for because I'm not too sore. Why is it that your muscles are always fine the day after but by day 2 they KILL?? LOL
I'll definitely go back and do it again but I really need to get fit! I struggled!
