Swine Flu - if your child was sick and in a swine flu area

Swine flu has been identified as being in my area thanks to the pacific dawn cruise ship. Anyway DS and I both have a nasty virus, DS is vomiting and has the runs,is hot then cold, same as normal flu symptoms really. But if it was you, would you take yourselves to get tested for swine flu?.

Yes. I wouldn't even hesitate in taking the girls to the dr, or a swine flu clinic (place thingy).

the symptoms of swine flu are the same as the normal flu..it is still a flu just a very contageous one. if swine flu wasn't around would you still take your son to the drs with these symptoms? you need to do what makes you comfortable and it is obviously concerning you so maybe you should take him..although it may pay to call the clinic first and get some advise so that it doesn't spread more...keeping up his fluids is important and monitoring his temperature and making him comfortable. Swine flu (and any flu for that matter) is a problem in the very young and the very old...in the healthy person it shouldn't pose a life threatening risk...it is just a flu. because it is so contageous though it would be worth getting it checked out for the safety of others also. good luck and i hope you and your DS feel better soon.

I am not in the swine flu area yet my kids have this cold hanging around. not a flu. but if they get any other kind of symptoms I am off to the Drs with them
