Grabbing and her face/eyes while she sleeps

When she's on the verge of sleeping she claws and grabs at her eyes and face and gets really aggitated and worked up to the point when she's back awake and crying her eyes out.

I don't know what to do, its so frustrating when I put her down the tinest startle will have her hands in her face, she grabs at her eyes and pulls the bottom of her eyes (brain blank can't think of what its called), and she'll be crying in no time. She rarely goes down easily, and I know they say put her down when she's not quite asleep but she just won't go down, she'll just grab and scratch herself until she is awake, and then cry...

Has anyone else had a bub who grabs at their face? How do you put a baby like this to sleep? Lately the only way she is going to sleep is feeding while I'm laying down with her, which is a habit I am desperate to break, or if she has just been awake for so long that she has worked herself into a screaming fit and well and truly exhausts herself. Some days I just want to tie her hands down!

The only thought I have would be perhaps to go back to wrapping her - if she'll consent to that!

No idea!! That's why I have to keep wrapping DD. Whenever I try put her down unwrapped she starts rubbing her face and wakes herself up again.

Jazz hasnt been wrapped since day 1, she wouldnt even sleep as a 6 hour old newborn wrapped!

hey sweet i sympathise took me ages to figure it out,
ya know we had same issue thats why we gave joshie that kiwi puppet soft teddy its soft and gentle and he squeezes that when going to sleep(MAKES NO SOUND) i give him that. They do have those handkerchief style teddy blankets u can get for around 10-15 at shops would do exact same thing.

Just wondering if you found a solution for you and Jazz for this situation. My ds does the same thing but at the moment he is still wrapped (he tries to do it through the wrap too). As of today though i need to ditch the wrap as i found that he had rolled in bed and scared the living day lights out of me. I am so scared that of he does it when he is wrapped he wont be able to get back over if his arms are wrapped.

I dont know what do do about the grabbing though of the face though.

I think im in for a few bad nights ha ha.

Ds does that a lot too, I have found that it is worse if I try and move his hands away or wrap him, he just gets them out anyway and runs and pulls his face harder.
The best thing that I have done is if I am putting him down awake is to put him down without blankets or anything at all. He seems to relax more, I have also stopped using polarfleece suits, because they were irritating him, and now he uses the sleeve of his cotton suits to rub frantically at his eyes instead of his hands, and this puts him to sleep instead of hurting him and waking him up!! Maybe you could try some cotton mittens....if you can get her to keep them on, at least them she may not atcually be able to pull at her eyes? DS often sleeps with his arms over his eyes!!
