My mother told me co-sleeping would kill DS, I just pointed out that he's not dead yet.

Now when she stays, she stays in a hotel! Although she has set up DS's room at her house with a bed in it too so I can co-sleep if I need to.

My other favourite to "mother knows best... you know, I mean your mum" was "Well I am DS's mother and I do know best, thank you." That was a bit rude but I'm not having anyone think I don't know my child best!

The other day a friend offered to babysit Jazz while Shel and I go out for my birthday. Jazz is being a bit funny with EBM at the moment so I declined because I didn't want her to get stressed about taking a bottle. My friend looked at me with wide eyes and said "you're STILL breastfeeding?!?! but shes past 6 weeks..." WTF? After my shock (been on BB too long lol!) I just started on WHO recommendations.

Though I have wanted to say "well, with formula you just don't know what you're feeding your baby..." (re chinas formula scandal) but I haven't yet...

Cloth nappies...blah blah blah (I don't really listen).

    PMSL!
When people start going on about cloth nappies being more work I just give a really confused look and say "its not like I handwash them... one extra load every two days saves me $30 a week!"

And when people comment on having Jazz in her sling, or not letting her be alone (she is always in whatever room I am in, napping or not), and say "oh she has you wrapped around her finger" I just say (thanks to suggestions from BB!) "I wouldn't have it any other way!".

And last but not least, when someone says to me "crying is good for them" I just smile and say "love is better"

    Love your responses! GOLD!!

Now all I have to do is wait for someone to make those comments so i can use these comebacks LOL.

What do you girls say when someone says (with look of disgust on their face): "cloth nappies? how do you deal with smelly poos? Eek, I can't handle that". I go on about how easy it is easy with the LS etc. but I need a smarta$$ response!

I tell them that, in fact, it's illegal to throw poo in the bin and everyone is supposed to flush it down! This usually results in an expression of disgust mixed with embarrassment that they didn't know this. Then I tell them that DS has never been afraid to poo or see his poo in the potty/toilet because we've always dealt with it constructively and positively. THEN I tell them that DS is no longer in nappies and only has an overnight nappy because of overnight dreamfeeds...that gets them thinking!
