Thankyou Andrea, it really is exhausting isnt it. I am so over the u/s's. I hold my breathe each and every time, then waiting for them to either give you good news or bad. It is doing my head in thats for sure. Sometimes i feel like i am going out of my mind. They put me through so much with my Little V, telling me that i had a 1:28 chance of her having DS, yet she is just petite. I also had a cvs done with her early on, yet this time they said I had a 1:408 chance and that they classed me as low risk and that I shouldnt bother with further testing. Yet I tell you, right now i think maybe I should have done the cvs again. Yet I listened to them. i cant believe that I had actually got to a point in this pgcy that I could connect and be excited about bub, yet now it is just dampened.
Im so glad your no longer needing to go to the diabetes clinic thats great, unfortunately my bsl's are all over the place and most the time arent looking good. The stress isnt doing it any favours either. Thanks hun, I will keep praying and having everything crossed for the both of our bubs. I guess will we know soon enough and hopefully we will both get good news. hugs

Hi all - hope you don't mind if I join you! I'm 29 weeks at the moment and was diagnosed with GD last week, and have just had my first diabetes appointment today. I was soooo nervous about pr!cking my finger - I faint during blood tests so thought it could get very messy - but it's not as bad as I'd built it up to be (of course). The GD diagnosis meant that my planned homebirth very quickly became a hospital birth which was massively disappointing, but after my appointment today I feel better about the change in plan.

I'm looking forward to sharing in your journeys with GD and possibly getting some great low-GI food ideas from you... I'm absolutely loving low-fat Jalna vanilla yoghurt with fresh strawberries, yummm! I'm a massive sweet-tooth but strangely enough haven't had any problems giving up cakes or biscuits which is a relief.

Welcome Allejane, sorry you have to join us here! Hopefully you will have as smooth a ride as possible with your GD & pregnancy.
I was pretty nervous about the finger *****s as well, but I'm kind of used to it now. After doing it daily for a month or so, I am now only testing 3 days a week, so if you can keep your levels under control things can get easier. I have found that I can even eat the occasional sweet thing. I found it a case of experimenting when I first got diagnosed. It was funny the things that would send me over - eg supposedly OK cereal and yoghurt, but then other things surprised me; can eat lots of pasta with no problem.

Thanks tcb for the welcome! I'm not thrilled to be here but it's good to know there's support out there. I had a good result with the diabetes group this week, they are happy for me to drop to testing three times a day instead of four (not quite at your three times a week, but getting there!) and don't want to see me again unless I have three readings over 7 in the space of a week.

That's so funny about the things that send you over - I had chips with my dinner on Sunday night, and I was sure that it would give me a high reading afterwards but I got one of the lowest readings I'd had all week! So potato seems to be okay, but Milo (which is apparently low GI) gave me a 6.8 this afternoon - highest reading so far, freaked me out a little. I guess it's just a learning thing.

Hope everyone else is keeping well and having success with various doctors/clinics/midwifes/sonographers etc... I had a not so great experience with a doctor this week scaring me by saying my fundal height is about 3cm higher than expected at 30 weeks, but I've since realised that she wasn't very careful with the measuring technique and I had a full bladder too, so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and not stress too much

Em - Happy 35wks for Friday last week, sorry abit belated, maybe happy 35wks 4days instead. Hope all is ok with your dad. hugs

BF - Hi hun and welcome to our thread, glad to see you pop in here. I hope all goes well today hun and bub gets to stay in abit longer, how scarey for you. Please know I am thinking of you. Will be over to the High risk thread soon. hugs

Crumpet - Yay on a wonderful appt the other day, and happy 35wks for yesterday. hugs

Yay and congratulations for all you other ladies hitting these wonderful weekly milestones, woohoo. hugs

Im sorry I havent been on, story of my life, but hopefully soon I can get on here a bit more often. Sorry for the lack of personals. hugs

AFM - I am now on 4units for Breakfast, 20untis for Lunch, 6 units for dinner and 6units for the night time (insulin). Hoping I dont need to increase it anymore. Also hoping and praying that once bub arrives in a few more weeks time, that the insulin and BSL checking will be a thing of the past.

Well had my appt today, which I wasnt supposed to but with me trying to change the c/s date I had to go in today to speak with the Dr. Anyhow after talking to the Dr we have decided to keep the original c/.s date, due to the following week may not have any c/s's scheduled except for emergency c/s's. In which case she said that I may not get an as experienced Dr as the Dr that is scheduled to do my c/s is. She also said if any complications happen with the c/s, someone with not as much experieced may panic. Also she expressed her concern for the baby if we leave it any longer, due to bubs size. So with her mentioning risking not being able to get a c/s and possibly ending up with someone not so experienced doing the c/s compared to this well experienced Dr that I currently have, well lets just say that sold me, especially with this being my 4th c/s. So atm looking at spending xmas in hospital. So lets just say without giving a date, I will just say upto the 24th December and bub will be here.
After letting the Dr know as well about me stopping the aspirin this week, she agreed it is best too. I also mentioned to her that some of the other dr's said to keep going upto the time i deliver, yet I dont want to risk that at all. So finally this week I will have one less thing to take. Still no bags ready, but will need to get my butt into gear and start.
Also went to do the sleep study last week but the stupid matress thingy wouldnt work when plugged in, however my BP was really good that night. So met up with the MW today who had me bring the matress home again, so will be trying it out tonight and will see how the BP goes as well again. I also had a thought, although she said it doesnt record hanky panky, yet it records snoring (still trying to figure that one out) What if I talk in my sleep lol. Ohh well, if it records that then at least they will have a laugh.
Anyhow I hope you and your little bubs are doing well, and will try to catch up properly soon. Loads of hugs.

Hi all.. I am new here too. ( Hi allejane)
I had my one hr test done on wed last week and came back at 15.
I then went for my 2 hr test and it came back at 16.5 last night.
My partner and I left our phones at home for the 1st time ever and went to our birthing class and the midwife was ringing frantically at 9:15 pm on every number she had. i was informed I should go toanother bigger hospital first thing in the morning.

So today we spent most of the day at the hospital, testing and talking to 5 drs.
I didn't think it was such a big deal as in 7 and half mmonths, I have only gained 3.5 kgs.
Today was alot to take in. The diabetic educator/nurse/dr (whatever she is) made me ***** myself and my "test" reading came back at 10.5 after having breakfast 4 hrs earlier (3 x weetbix + half banana + skim milk)
My partner went and got me lunch and after a toasted turkish bread, it jumped to 12.6.
I have been put on insulin immediately. I ONLY FOUND OUT LAST NIGHT!!
they were saying today to test for 2 weeks then they would review the results in 2 weeks but I said that I wanted something happening much more quickly. In 2 weeks I will be 33 weeks pregnant! So afet my 2 "*****s" there, they put me on straight away.
I left feeling good because I was doing something... Not waiting.

Tonight I did my 1st injection (6 units) before dinner and tested 2 hrs later and I am at 7.6. The dr said it would go down more slowly and probably not hit the 7's mark for a week so I am a little confused....

Anyway, I have been reading back through everyones posts and I am REALLY HIGH.... They all kept saying that.
I must admit that after dinner and checking again and seeing that it was down closeer to my goal of 7, I am feeling MUCH better.

Anyway, sorry to rant... just a newbie with lots of thoughts swirling...

I am excited to see such a support network... Awesome.
    Take care all...

Hi mum+mum, welcome. Sorry you ended up in here though and on insulin. I too am on insulin, couldnt manage it on diet alone. They say it gets harder to manage the further you go into your pgcy, which for me I have noticed. The insulin dosage has been put up several times. I started off with just 4units at lunch and dinner, now I am on 4 units with breakfast, 20units with lunch, 6 units dinner and 6 units fasting/night. GL with it all and i hope that the BSL's behave for you. Hugs
