Aussienic, I found I would have a low if I took the insulin and then didn't eat enough carbs. Are you eating the right amount of carbs in your meals? I did have lows every few days, sometimes the insulin dose was right, sometimes I would go high or low. It is hard to get it right.

Miss chez, if your mother had GD, you probably have a higher chance of getting it too - genetics plays a big part in who gets it. The longer test is usually the three days of high carbo diet then fasting before the actual test, but give the hospital a ring and they will be able to tell you exactly what to do. Your GP doesn't sound very helpful, any chance of shopping around for a new one?
