Hey guys. I had my Glucose CHallenge on Tuesday and it came back elivated so I have to have the Tolerance test next Tuesday.
I'm all new to this GD stuff and don't know much about it. Just starting to do some research.
Hopefully my test will come back ok and I won't have to worry too much about it.
Have you any tips for me if I am diagnose with GD?

Stars - What kinda breafast did you have that gave 7.7?

principessa - I hope your scan went prefectly today.

Do you guys test exactly 2hrs after you eat? or within 2-3hrs?
    Just wondering.

    Hi Becci!
I'm sorry to hear about your glucose test.
I hope the next test comes back all fine.
All I can say is it's a huge shock once you find out and disappointed in yourself and body, but it does get better. I don't really know what it's like to find out 3/4 through your pg. I've had to monitor my levels since 10wks.
Sorry I can't help very much.

If you do have a high result in the next test, then there are lots of people that will help you and we're here too for support and/or questions.

    Hi Everyone!

Stars - Sorry you're still having trouble at breakfast time. M/S is totally not going to help the situation. Not long to go now though. Is it only breakfast time that you're struggling with? I find if I eat dinner early (say 7:00pm) and then sleep in and don't eat breakfast until 9:30am or so then my body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto glucose more. I'll tend to get a 4.2 after the long break with no food whereas normally I would get 3.7-3.8..... just a thought. Also, have you tried cutting out carbs at breakfast? Cheese omelettes are yummy! (I'm not sure how they'd go with your M/S though....) I'm sure everything's going to work out just fine. I'm sure your bubba is doing wonderfully well!

Tenny - I notice you're 30 weeks now! On the home stretch... Time has really been flying for me since that 30 week mark. I hope it does for you too. As far as testing time I do test exactly 2 hrs after eating (I'm such a nerd.... I even set an alarm on my mobile to remind me The other day it went off when I was at the shops so I had to slip away and test.)

Becci - Sorry you've got to go for the 2hr GTT. Its an absolute pain. I hope your results come back ok. My advice, if your dr hasn't told you make sure you eat plenty of carbs (good carbs though) in the days leading up to the test and I would say don't fast any longer than you have to. I did the exact opposite to this and my endocrinologist told me that it absolutely affected my results making them appear a LOT worse than they should have been. Good luck

Me - Scan today was fabulous! Bubba unfortunately was face-planted into the placenta and was not feeling very photogenic so no great 3D photos. Everything was perfect though which was a huge relief. We had the sex confirmed too - VERY obvious this time Size-wise bub was average (no great surprise there) and by their calculations about 2.5kgs ATM. I hope you guys get to have another scan. Its so cool to see everything again so close to the end. Its just totally reassured me that all is well and now I'm going to relax and enjoy these last few weeks.

Hope you can all have a restful weekend!

    Thanks for your responses guys.
I have my test booked for 8am, which is as early as I could get, so fasting shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just might have a late dinner to help. Maybe have some basmati rice with dinner?
It's the waiting around in uncomforable chairs that I'm going to hate. Oh well, will take my crochet with me to keep me comfortable.
Will let you all know how they turn out. Have an appointment on Friday morning with the dr anyway, so I guess i will find out then.
    Thanks once again.

Good luck with your test, Becci!

principessa - Lol @ such a nerd. Nah, you're not. Sometimes I get lazy and it's 2 1/2hrs, or something, but no longer then 3hrs. Most of the time it's around 2hrs or right on 2hrs. Depends what I'm doing or where I'm at sometimes. I have done a test like out to lunch one day, kinda under the table and in my handbag. Lol. Lucky there weren't many people around. haha

Personally I would be that stressed about having to do tests in public.
My good friend is a diabetic (in sort of remission at the mo thanks to organ donation!!!) and has always tested herself and given herself insulin when we are out.
So I wouldn't feel embarrassed or anything when I'm out with them.
