    Hi everyone,

Tennykins, my dr told me they would not induce me any earlier unless my levels went up and the baby suddenly got huge and they have not mentioned anything about having another scan.

I had one at 32 weeks to check the placenta as it was previously low, luckily it had moved. Do you think I should be querying if I need another one?

At the moment my levels have been okay, other than last night when I was stressed out and unwell and I registered 13.1! Nearly had a heart attack!

    Hope everyone is doing okay!

Hey Stars. I hope you had a great weekend.

I'm not sure if you should query if they want you to have another scan. I have no idea, sorry.

I hope you're feeling better today. xx

I need to try to stop myself from having some "naughty" foods lately. I turn to food when I'm upset/down, etc etc.. so I'm trying to overcome that. I haven't had any high high ones, but I know what I'm getting could be lower. I'm so frustrated with myself. Ugh.

I'm starting to worry that my levels will go high and all that. Maybe I'm just having a bad day and I'm just thinking the worst about everything. I don't know.

    Have a great day.

    Hi Tennykins,

I turn to food as well when I am emotional which is not a good solution for me, but on the most I have tried to be good.

Like you though I am starting to worry that yesterday higher reading will start a pattern or something I never knew there were so many things you worried about when you're pregnant!

I never knew there were so many foods that affect your BSLs until now.

I'm having a better day today. I was thinking my levels were starting to go up overnight for the morning reading, but it looks like we're doing fine. I got a nice low 3.8 this morning. I was cheerin'

I hope you have a fantastic day.

    Hi Everyone,

Glad to see that you're going well Tenny & Stars.

Stars - From what I've heard you've probably passed the most tricky time to keep your BSLs in check. My endocrinologist said that 32-34 weeks is when there's most pressure put on your insulin and told me that if I got to 34 weeks then I'd be ok and wouldn't need insulin injections. I'm sure you're going to be just fine now. Not long to go.....

Tenny - Glad to hear I'm not going to be the only one having some naughty food!

Well, I had my first "naughty" meal last night since my GD diagnosis. I didn't do my BSL afterwards (I was scared and didn't want to have to wait up until 11pm do it anyway ). It was a fabulous meal and I savoured every mouthful of my cheesecake for dessert. Anyway BSL was totally fine this morn 4.2 (phew). It was totally worth the splash out. I had been totally strict with my diet until last night and I'm not planning on going crazy with food over the next few weeks but when we go out again I'm not going to deprive myself..... plenty of time for that after bubs arrives and I'm sweating it out on the treadmill trying to lose all those extra kilos

Anyway I have my "growth and well being" scan on Fri. I'll be a day short of 35 weeks. I'm excited about it but also a little nervous (of course). I hope we can get some great 3D images of bub and we'll definitely get the sex confirmed.... I don't like surprises.

I'm starting to feel on the countdown now - only 4 weeks to go (at the max) for me!

    Have a great day!

    Good morning,

Hope you are all having a nice day so far!

Tennykins, no neither did I, and how you can have the same food on different days and get completely differing readings!

Thanks principessa for the reassurance, but not sure what is happening to my morning reading now! I was recording 5.0, 5.1 etc but now it's 6.9, 6.8 and I am on the only breakfast cereal that brought it down to the earlier levels, which is porridge. No idea what else I can try now, I'll probably have to give the diabetes people a call to try to work out what is going on!

LOL the naughty meal sounds lovely! I have my baby shower at a restaurant in a week and a half and I have decided I am going to have whatever I want for lunch and not worry about it just for the one day! LOL except the baby is squashing my stomach so I probably won't be able to eat much!

Good luck with the scan, how exciting! 4 weeks left to go that's not long at all!

Yeah, I didn't realise how the same foods on different days gave different readings either.

For breakfast, I have vegemite on toast. So that goes ok with me. When I first started the diet control I was having mini wheats, they did ok for me too. Good luck with the morning readings and breakfast stuff.

    Yay about your baby shower.
Yeah, Go on spoil yourself just for the day! It's too hard to be so so strict all the time. (I tried to be at the start, but it just made it worse, I think)
I hope everything goes fantastic and you have a great baby shower.

Wow, you both are getting so close to holding your bubbas.
I've got at least 10weeks left. They'll probably go really fast and I'll be wondering where the time went. Lol

    Good luck with your scan!

    xx

    Hi all,

Stars - Hopefully your after breakfast readings won't get any worse now that you're at the 34 week mark. What are your after meal upper limits? 6.8 & 6.9 aren't fab but they're still under 7.0 which is all that my endocrinologist needed from me. I think you'll be fine. On the breakfast front, I have always had porridge so no change for me there. I sprinkle ground cinnamon and artifical sweetener (Sweet Addin - apparently low GI) on it. Do you have to have cereal/porridge? Food that I've gotten back into that was recommended in the "Zone Diet" (that I did MANY years ago) was a breakfast of chickpeas and low fat cottage cheese. I've been having that for lunch but I remember I did quite like it for breakfast - just an idea for some variety if you need it. I hope your baby shower is fantastic and I think you should go nuts for the day with food. Everyone else gets to eat whatever they like when they're pg and we should get to indulge every now and then too!

Tenny - Things are getting really close til bubs is here. I can't wait. Things are getting very uncomfortable with these arms and legs that seem to be everywhere I've also had some serious fatigue set in over the last few days. I've not been sleeping that well during the night for the whole pg and that unfortunately hasn't improved. I think your last 10 weeks will fly by. I thought things would really slow down for me now that I'm home resting but they haven't Your bub will be here before you know it!

I'll let you all know how my scan goes on Fri!

    Hi everyone,

Principessa my readings are still a bit high in the morning, after lunch they seem to vary between 5.1 and 6.1 and dinner can be anything from 5.0 to 6.5.

Tried a different breakfast yesterday and that gave me 7.7

I have had bad morning sickness again so I have felt really unwell, it's so hard to eat reguarly when you just don't even want to look at food!

Tennykins I reckon those 10 weeks will fly past, it seems to be happening awfully quickly..once I started to have to get things for the hospital bags it kind of all hit home..OMG I am going to be a mum!!!! Scary...!

Am very very very glad it's Friday and can have a rest on the weekend! YAY!

Hey guys. I had my Glucose CHallenge on Tuesday and it came back elivated so I have to have the Tolerance test next Tuesday.
I'm all new to this GD stuff and don't know much about it. Just starting to do some research.
Hopefully my test will come back ok and I won't have to worry too much about it.
Have you any tips for me if I am diagnose with GD?

Stars - What kinda breafast did you have that gave 7.7?

principessa - I hope your scan went prefectly today.

Do you guys test exactly 2hrs after you eat? or within 2-3hrs?
    Just wondering.

    Hi Becci!
I'm sorry to hear about your glucose test.
I hope the next test comes back all fine.
All I can say is it's a huge shock once you find out and disappointed in yourself and body, but it does get better. I don't really know what it's like to find out 3/4 through your pg. I've had to monitor my levels since 10wks.
Sorry I can't help very much.

If you do have a high result in the next test, then there are lots of people that will help you and we're here too for support and/or questions.

    Hi Everyone!

Stars - Sorry you're still having trouble at breakfast time. M/S is totally not going to help the situation. Not long to go now though. Is it only breakfast time that you're struggling with? I find if I eat dinner early (say 7:00pm) and then sleep in and don't eat breakfast until 9:30am or so then my body goes into starvation mode and hangs onto glucose more. I'll tend to get a 4.2 after the long break with no food whereas normally I would get 3.7-3.8..... just a thought. Also, have you tried cutting out carbs at breakfast? Cheese omelettes are yummy! (I'm not sure how they'd go with your M/S though....) I'm sure everything's going to work out just fine. I'm sure your bubba is doing wonderfully well!

Tenny - I notice you're 30 weeks now! On the home stretch... Time has really been flying for me since that 30 week mark. I hope it does for you too. As far as testing time I do test exactly 2 hrs after eating (I'm such a nerd.... I even set an alarm on my mobile to remind me The other day it went off when I was at the shops so I had to slip away and test.)

Becci - Sorry you've got to go for the 2hr GTT. Its an absolute pain. I hope your results come back ok. My advice, if your dr hasn't told you make sure you eat plenty of carbs (good carbs though) in the days leading up to the test and I would say don't fast any longer than you have to. I did the exact opposite to this and my endocrinologist told me that it absolutely affected my results making them appear a LOT worse than they should have been. Good luck

Me - Scan today was fabulous! Bubba unfortunately was face-planted into the placenta and was not feeling very photogenic so no great 3D photos. Everything was perfect though which was a huge relief. We had the sex confirmed too - VERY obvious this time Size-wise bub was average (no great surprise there) and by their calculations about 2.5kgs ATM. I hope you guys get to have another scan. Its so cool to see everything again so close to the end. Its just totally reassured me that all is well and now I'm going to relax and enjoy these last few weeks.

Hope you can all have a restful weekend!

    Thanks for your responses guys.
I have my test booked for 8am, which is as early as I could get, so fasting shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just might have a late dinner to help. Maybe have some basmati rice with dinner?
It's the waiting around in uncomforable chairs that I'm going to hate. Oh well, will take my crochet with me to keep me comfortable.
Will let you all know how they turn out. Have an appointment on Friday morning with the dr anyway, so I guess i will find out then.
    Thanks once again.

Good luck with your test, Becci!

principessa - Lol @ such a nerd. Nah, you're not. Sometimes I get lazy and it's 2 1/2hrs, or something, but no longer then 3hrs. Most of the time it's around 2hrs or right on 2hrs. Depends what I'm doing or where I'm at sometimes. I have done a test like out to lunch one day, kinda under the table and in my handbag. Lol. Lucky there weren't many people around. haha

Personally I would be that stressed about having to do tests in public.
My good friend is a diabetic (in sort of remission at the mo thanks to organ donation!!!) and has always tested herself and given herself insulin when we are out.
So I wouldn't feel embarrassed or anything when I'm out with them.

    Hi Everyone,

    How are the BSL's going?

Me, I don't have to do it anymore..... that's cos my darling little boy Aidan was born on Sunday 18th @ 5:24am (35w1d). He's in the special care unit at the hospital and doing REALLY well. (Apparently he knew what he was doing coming out so early.... his breathing is great and is on 3 BFs a day). Hopefully he'll be home within a week. I'm going to eventually post in the birth story section cos it is a totally crazy birth story.

I'll keep and eye on you guys and hopefully catch up with you soon in the baby forums.
