What was your one hour GD test result and did you pass the 2hr???

Can anyone tell me what "fail number" they got for their one hour diabetes test and whether or not they went on to pass the two hour test.

I know there is probably no correlation but am hoping above hope that my 8.2 is going to see me ok after the two hour.

    TIA

I actually *failed* both the one and the 2hr test with my last pg, but I never went on to have any treatment for it because the result was inconsequential and didn't really mean anything apart from having slightly higher than normal blood sugar levels. If you are concerned, there is an article by Henci Goer in the 'medical conditions during pg' forum about the con of GD bascially which does a lot to explain how the testing is essentially flawed and meaningless. Unless of course you have diabetes IRL, then thats completely different.

I'm pretty sure I got something like 9 for my first one and then I passed the second one with no worries. I hope yours turns out ok and you have nothing to worry about.

Mine was 5.2 and I did not need another test I think that it needs to be 6 or below for a pass. ( I THINK)

    Hi Jaspen,
#3 pg I got 9 for first and 5 for second.
This time round I got 6 and got told I have passed.

What you eat a few days leading up to the non fast one can effect the reading.
When is your 2hr one? All the best.

It varys depending on the pathology lab that you go to, as with a lot of blood results there are varying scales.

My GCT was 7.4 mmol which is normal as cut of was 7.9mmol.

    Good luck with it.

    Hi Jaspen,

My first test came back at 8.4 and the midwife said anything over 8 they send you for the 2hr test. I had that done and only ended up getting 5.3 for that one, so you could still be fine

    Good Luck

I got a 10.2 for the one hour test, couldn't drink the drink fast enough for the two hour test but I did have GD requiring insulin.

other than being sweeter due to the increased glucose is the 2hr test drink dramatically different?????

I don't think it is much different, I just had trouble because I had a rather weak tummy during pregnancy and couldn't handle fizzy drinks.

I only did the 2 hour test with Julia's pregnancy and passed, even though they thought I had GD due to insulin resistance. This time only had the 1 hour test and only got 4 so all good. For the 2 hour test I found it easier to drink if I was thirsty. Hope it goes well jaspen.

    jaspen,
the drinks are the same, it is just the 2 hr one you have been fasting.
When do you do the test?

rose - the test is tomorrow morning (Saturday).

Thanks for the well wishes and I'm crossing my fingers cause I so don't want to have to be forced to change my diet etc - I really struggle with enforced diet control - Dad is a Type 2 diabetic so I have the long term chance of getting there anyway and I know what I should eat and drink etc and outside of pregnancy have been trying to ensure my majority of foods are back on the straight and narrow but during pregnancy I'm not so great unfortunately and to be forced to make a change sends me craving even more anyway I'll worry about that when and if it happens.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I'll pop back in when I know my results.

One hour was 8.1 and I failed the second. 2 week later I'm on insulin as even having 2 wheatbix and milk would send me over. Only risk factor was my age as before getting pg I had a BMI of 24.8 and none of the cultural ones apply to me.

At the end of the day it is not about the chocolate cake you ate last week - but if your pancreas can cope with 2- 3 times the usual load.

Thanks for thinking of me rose. The test went ok although everything I drank for the rest of the day tasted like lime. Am still hanging out to see whether I get a call from the OB or not cause he said he'd only ring if I failed so my theory is if I can get through today without a call I must have passed.

    jaspen,
I assume your 2hr test came back all ok?
I've just had a high result on my 1 hour test and have to go for the 2 hour test probably monday so bit nervous about it really as I've eaten healthy the whole PG.
