Ooooh I can't wait to put our train up too, we got it on sale last year but it looked so dodgy as we had a very, very small tee.....just looked weird. We've always had a small optic fibre tree, but this year we are getting a BIG one with lots of decs & putting the train under it. Charlie loves it, he pulls the box out from under the spare bed any chance he gets!

My DF refuses to discuss christmas plans as he says it is too early. Id love to have christmas lunch at our place this year as I know I have it off (Im a nurse so often have to work christmas). My family normally make plans early and whave not had christams lunch with df parents yet (its been 5 years) and they live a 3min walk from us. If his parents want to do lunch this year I think I will have to agree, although his mums not much of a cook they have a sign in the kitchen that says 'dinners ready when the smoke alarm sounds' lol.

I have started a list of pressie ideas because family ask for ideas and I have no idea, Im also hoping having a list will stop me going overboard!

For those with bubs under 1 I found buying toys that might not be age appropriate at christamas was good becuase every few months I'd get a new toy out the cupboard. I also love to get kids books, I am now buying kids a $5 book instead of a card for birthdays.

My poor dd's ia not going to be getting too much in the way of toys this year as we have way to many as it is, and mum keeps telling me to save the money for when they are older and ask for something. We will see if I can restrain myself.

We did the inlaws last year and they were all hung over from the night before...NEVER again. We ended up having maccas for christmas dinner because no one was organised! I was so annoyed.

no IL's to fit in with here, so it's my family and then DH's bestie up the road - we go there for a drink around dinner time (well, have done past couple of years - if E is overwhelmed by the whole thing, we'll stay home i think!)

Wow, chrissy is around the corner ladies, has anyone started doing any home made stuff yet?? I was thinking I should get started, but am yet to get anything on the go!
I'm exctied about chrissy this year, it will be lots of fun, I think DD will get it a bit more this year! And DS will just feed off her excitement as her usually does! Yayyyyy!!!
I have my laybys on for the kids clothes and toys for chrissy (neices and nephews too) and I'm trying to think of stuff for everyone else...this year we will be able to afford some nice gifts and decorations for the tree, ohhh, I'm getting all excited, lol!

BAKING! I plan on doing lots of yummy gifts for everyone...

    Shortbread
    Peanut Butter Cups
    Mint Patties
    Chocolate Bark
    Rocky Road
    White Christmas
Chocolate Puddings (with Choc Royale, White Choc, Mint Leaves and Jaffas)
are i on your christmas present list sounds so good!

I'm excited about putting our train under the tree this year I bought it last year, but we had just had the floor boards done so was paranoid about them getting scratched so we didn't put the tack down, this year not so much LOL!!
last year there was no room udner the tree so we put it on the kitchen table and itw as great for our eve dinner and itw a spuffing smoke everywhere lol sooo good.

This year ill be in my start of my 3rd trem so um unsure what will happen. Mind you we live isolated so no other family to visit this can be good and. Also no one to visit us so once again can be and . So be another quiet one with the 4 kids and hubbie. Ill be doing salads cold meats and about 4-5 deserts. and about 13 options on the table for tea. There will be pre baking and planning ahead of time for this. Unsure how it will come togethor as ill be heavely relying on hubbie. I used to get so exited over Christmas but now its so exhausting and stressfull as i want things so perfect each year hubbie has been a bit better. I hate what i used to love and thats the tree putting up takes all day for the 6.5 foot thing and we have loads of deco's. I have some new ones to put up so looking forward to that. Putting the tree up is a big day too evolves special celebrations and carols and food loads of food and more. I might just buy a air conditioned bubble and put a directors chair in it and delegate the decorations lol.

It will be blinkin hot and ill tiered with no air con and missing my family i expect but will be putting on my happy face and dressing up in a costume for the kids i think my rainbow fairly costume will fit me then as it was MILES to big for me lol. Might spend part of the day in the pool like a beached whale actually the eve bit is more important to us as thats when the celebrations start and we all give a gift out over dinner. I have some stuff hidden already that was on clearance long ago.

I'm about to start my shopping....I will be doing it all online & want it all done very soon. With a bubs due around that very time me thinks it would be a good idea to get in now.

I really can't wait to put our train up as DS is just soooo in love with trains atm...he is going to adore it. We too will have no family with us as we are in remote QLD & they are all in SA...can't travel with a bubs on the way. So I sadly admitt we are thinking of going out for lunch as I'm not sure I will want to cook....esp with the way the weather is here atm, it's going to be HOT!

I'm getting excited about making things this year. I've just found the most gorgeous reindeer cookies made with ginger nut biscuits...think i'll make some for Playgroup closer to Christmas, oooh & found snowmen made of marshmallows, too cute.

ok, so its September now! time for me to get cracking with Christmas bits and pieces!!

i have a few present ideas, i think i should make a list today, and i can start laybying.
DD1 is all done, bar some summer clothes which ill wait till december to get.
DD2 is having her bedroom 'done' for xmas, so i can start buying bits and pieces to put away, more so for DD1's benefit, she has already told me she will have to open all Kayla's presentss form santa because she will be too little, how thoughtful of her lol

i also buy our presents from my nan, so i might start looking into that as well. she likes that i get her organised early

i was hoping DP and i could get a dining table for us for xmas.. but not sure that will be possible.

im looking forward to making Gingerbread houses with DD this year as well, i think she will love it!

I am so excited about christmas after reading this thread and thinking about what we are going to be doing. Hopefully we'll have an early christmas celebration with DP's family in Russia (their christmas is actually after ours in the new year) then back here in time for christmas at my sister's place at the beach in central queensland. I am super excited as it's DD's first christmas, we will see snow in Russia (I've never seen snow IRL) and my parents go all out and decorate the inside of the house and outside with 1000's of lights. Mum has a collection of santas and heaps of inside decorations and they have won the lights competition in their town a few times. DD is gonna love it! Oh and rum balls, can't forget our secret recipe delicious rum balls.
