this year i'm cataloguing all my gifts given bub is due just 10 days before chrissy! I just need to hit the 'buy' button but have it all sorted. they will be wrapped and posted by the end of novemeber
the thought of having to comb the shops for gifts makes me want to lay down for a sleep lol. DH built his sister a computer and we paid for postge and half the cost for her christmas gift (asked her if she was happy with that first).
the only gift i have to ''work on'' is DHs. I'm putting all his recipes into a book for him he loves baking and has printed out and hand written recipes shoved in another recipe book so i'm creating him his own special book, i think he'll love it as he's not a big gift man... plus it'll be a great project for maternity leave.
regarding my beautiful little boy, who will be born sometime before Chrissy Day, I'm ''giving'' him his christmas stocking... I'm going to make it over the next couple of weeks and then i'll put his name on it once he's arrived
Cos he's so small, i'm not getting him a proper gift as i think it's pointless. so i'm ''giving'' him a more sentimental gift.
my parents are buying him a christmas tree decoration - my mum has bought her 3 kids a good quality decoration every year since we were little and wants to do it for bubba.
i'm not sure if all that answers your questions but good luck with it! My DH keeps reminding me that no one would expect gifts from us this year, but i love giving the people i love pressies and just could not cos i'll have a newborn!
The only thing I have done so far is thought about starting! LOL
Normally we would leave it until a couple of weeks before christmas (DF often leaves his until the day or so before!) but with a baby i want to get it out of the way early before the crazy christmas rush, and without my income it will be better financially to space it out a bit and put some things on layby.
Really dont know what to get this year though and I dont really like shopping at the best of times! I love Peters of Kensington, so might do all my shopping online this year.
Grub- that christmas stocking sounds fab! Might just have to borrow your idea and make one for DD!
I started when toyworld had their big christmas & long term layby sale. I'd normally do the target/Big W ones too, but couldn't get there. I have most of the kids stuff on layby, but thats it. Going to a body shop party on Friday, so will get some stuff there, & probably more layby's, lol.
We've (Ok, just me LOL - DH is The Grinch ) started - I have a wooden cubby house on layby and they are only getting one present under the tree because of the cost of the cubby house and the motorbike DS1 is getting (the 1 thing DH is buying) and I just finished ordering those things today. So the kids are all sorted. My niece is nearly sorted - have half her present and I need to sew the other half. Not buying for the IL's as we have agreed not to buy for each other this year.
I love shopping close to Christmas though because the atmosphere is amazing. DH loathes Christmas with a passion so I have to space it out so the less he has to deal with the easier life is for me LOL
we do kris kringle for the adults - our presents for that are sorted. DH is getting tix to fleetwood mac for christmas/birthday combined, so that's organised. DD is probably going to get some wooden puzzles - will depend on money.
have to buy for bro's three kids - oooh, have the youngest organised, probably get a skateboard helmet for the middle one - so it's just the oldest - shes hard to buy for! probably some scrapbooking stuff
ummmmm, DD had some professional photos taken last weekend, so when we pick them up, if they're good, we're going to get presents with them for everyone from her
most of it will be done online! too hard to get to the shops from here
My normal process is don't even think about Christmas until school is finished... and then in the week between my school closing and state schools closing, rush out and do it all then...
Last year I was going to be 37 weeks at Christmas... I did the same thing, finished up work at 35 weeks, rushed around and bought all the gifts and ended up having Sam at 36 weeks. Oops! Gifts were bought, but not wrapped or posted and none were delivered until January. Funny part was that in February MIL stayed and picked up and started reading a book... commented that she quite enjoyed it, at which point we said simply "happy Christmas, it's yours".
Slightly different situation for us as Sam wasn't due until after Christmas, but we didn't really worry about gifts for him, even though he arrived early. I did want to get a Christmas decoration for him, and I'm forever grateful to BG for providing one for us when we couldn't get out. At that stage of the year it wasn't a particularly wonderful one, but it was one, and that's what counts.
This year, due to limited finances I'm making most gifts. Cross-stitched items mainly and I can see myself going madly on Christmas Eve still trying to get everything done!
