IMO gifts are totally inappropriate for Easter. I don't celebrate it myself but I grew up in a very traditional home where hot cross buns were for Friday and Easter eggs were for only for Sunday (not every year because Mum didn't understand why a pagan fertility symbol was appropriate for a Christian celebration) so I think that the Easter egg gluttony and hot cross buns in the shops straight after Christmas is kind of inappropriate (not that I'm complaining about the buns - I love to nom them).
