My most memorable was seeing in 2000, but I wasn't with DH at that stage so we just wont tell him!
DH and I have a shocking history when it comes to NYE celebrations, but last year was ok even though mum and I were up at some ungodly hour of the morning cleaning up DH's vomit. Other than him drinking too much it was a good night, from mum's apartment in Sydney you can see all the way from the harbour bridge on the right to the airport on the left. There was around a dozen different sets of fireworks we could see from her balcony, kids loved it. Got the kids some sparklers and a heap of glow sticks and turned the lights down.
Our last NYE in Brisbane we took the kids to the early fire works at southbank, which was ok but SO SO many people.
I don't know what it is with NYE but something always seems to go wrong, hospital trips, arguments, someone drinks too much (well DH, not me), spats with his family when we've gone over there...I kind of dread it now but hopefully this year will be better.
Personally I'm not a fan of going out on NYE with little kids, maybe earlier in the night but I really don't like being "out and about" after about 10pm, too many idiots around at that stage.
