    finally you are coming again

Ok a must to do is visit us first of all! Then you have to go to the Casino and check out Southbank and the docklands. A nice Yarra river cruise would be lovely and they have some cruises with meals as well.

We have a new building called Eureka. Its the tallest in the hemisphere or something like that! And they have a viewing deck and also a cube of glass that actually sends you outside of the building very high up. You will have to check out their website. Looks amazingly scary!

Good suggestions Danni & Feeb !!!!!!

The tram car restaurant is meant to be terrific too. A really old tram, that goes around the city & suburbs, with magnificent meals.

I haven't been, but apparantly the aquarium is excellent too.

a lot of people go down the great ocean road... but it's a few hours drive along the coast. it's nice, scenic & relaxing... but depends how long you were coming for and if you'll have a car. Nice to do that if you stay overnight over that way.

You can go to Daylesford which is about 45 min drive from the city - and it's the Day Spa centre!! there are natural springs, and loads of hippy spa centres. Great for relaxation.

Some good stage shows in Melbourne at the moment.

Not sure about 'adventurous stuff'.... hang on... my hubby did a V8 race car drive around calder park... that was an adrenelin rush.
You can also do hot air balloon rides around Melbourne.
To check out some activities in Melbourne - you can google 'red balloon days'... and that lists loads of things.
If you google 'Tourism Melbourne' you will get to the official visit melbourne site.

    Shopping: Richmond, south yarra....
    Cafes: South Yarra, St Kilda..
attactions: Penguins, Puffing Billy steamtrain, Bendigo gold town...

    Enjoy your visit !!!!!!!!!!!

go to the Dandenong Ranges!! yah!! September the weather will start getting nicer....probably best to avoid coming in early November as the Spring Racing Carnival is in full swing and it's pretty hectic for flights/accom.

November to January is really pleasant weather.
February can get a bit hot.
September & october are the start of spring and just starting to warm up.

If you're into horse races - November can be a great time to come down. You have Caulfield Cup, Melbourne Cup, Oaks Day, Darby Day... (you have to get tickets for Melb Cup now). But as Gracie says... it can be busy for accomodation.

Is Mornington Peninsula close to the CBD at all, or is it easily accessable without a car?

Morninton is about an hours drive from Melbourne.
To get there on public transport I think you'd need to get a train to Frankston, and then a bus service to mornington.

i've not been by public transport though so I don't know how long it would take.

Is the tank ride thing in Mornington or on the Mornington Peninsula? The Mornington Peninsula is the whole region and Mornigton is a town in the middle of it. Sorry to sound like a downer but depending on where it is on the Peninsula it could still be an hours drive from Mornington IYKWIM.

You could hire a car for the day and while you're there drive to Sorrento for lunch or visit Arthurs Seat or one of the wineries etc.
