I'd say you're looking at the wrong estimator. There's one where you actually update your details (I'd say that's the one you need) and there's one that you can play around with just to see what you'd be entitled to.

I would think what you need is under Family Assistance - Update Family Income Estimate.

Hope that helps? Or maybe you can do it through viewing an existing claim? I haven't done online claims for Baby stuff.. I usually just take in the forms from the hospital.

You don't need the birth certificate itself, but you do have to send away the birth registration before claiming. Well I had to anyway. The proof of birth should have been filled out by the hosp. already when they gave you the forms Call them and ask for your customer number etc. Then do the online thing and hand the rest into medicare.. Much easier than going into Centrelink itself.. and you don't have to wait as long.

ETA - Whoops.. I just realised there was a second page. Sorry for the repetitive response!

YOu shouldn't need a birth certificate, the section on the back of the form that you were given by the hospital should have been completed by a Midwife, that shows proof of birth. Unfortunately you do need to complete some of the claim on line and also complete the paperword you were given.

Are you claiming the Paid Parental Leave or the Baby Bonus?

No you don't need a birth certificate for the baby bonus, but I think you do need it for the family tax benefit. If you take the form to a medicare office, you can put her on medicare as well.

You don't need a Birth Certificate, just need to have lodged the form - SO POST IT! lol

Anyway, not sure what the problem everyone is having - I claimed the PPL, same form, filled the part in online, took about 15 mins, and filled in the paper form from the hospital (this has the proof of birth on the back of it, hence why you don't need the birth cert. when you lodge) and took it in on Wednesday. I know they are processing it because someone rang me this morning to confirm some things...

As for the estimator, there is an online TOOL that you can use to work out if you are better off with BabyBonus or PPL - are you sure that is not what you are looking at?
To get to the online claim form, you need to log in, so if you need to register for online services. If you aren't logging on to fill out the claim, then you aren't filling in the right thing.

I would give them a call and someone will walk you through it.

The paper form is very straight forward though, if you have filled in the online claim you skip half of it anyway.

ETA: You don't need to update your income to claim the Baby Bonus, only if your income has changed.

I know that ours got processed over two weeks ago - they told us when we rang up but they won't fainalise it anymore until it has been a minimum of three weeks since the form was lodged. It used to be a maximum of three weeks but it has changed to happen in no less than 3 weeks - that's what Centrelink told DH two days ago when he rang anyway.

Went into centrelink and they said to go to the website and click "claim a payment" then you need all the passwords and CRN numbers to lodge it... We haven't done this stuff for over 2-3 years so I had to send them a message saying please get back to us with our CRN numbers asap so we can lodge our claim for the baby bonus...

You can get your CRN over the phone.

If you have any of your old Centrelink notices or even one from when Ianto was born saying they paid you the baby bonus, your CRN is written on the top of that. It is a 9 number and one letter combination and in bold writing. You can set up your online account without going into Centrelink - it will just ask you for some verifying information like old addresses, your dob and stuff like that.

You can only claim the baby bonus and FTB in one name so you just need one of your CRN's to set it up though both you and Teni will have different ones so just make sure you answer all the 'you' questions as whoever the the CRN is for and answer 'your partner' for the other of you. It all comes out the same at the end no matter whose name it is set up in, it is just that all the mail and everything else goes to that person.
