Cheap Wood in Melbourne

Oh wow that is expensive! The going rate out here is only $100 - $150 per tonne.

$110 per cubic metre down my way. Any other year we could have helped you out, but wet weather and DH having a hurt hand means we have to buy in rather than cut our own.

We always get free fire wood when a neighbour cuts a tree down LOL! If you ever need someone with a chainsaw, let me know. DH has one and LOVES an excuse to use it .

Last year my parents and us went halves in a truck load, it worked out to be $300 ish each. We got some from FIL's work this year. We did have to spilt it though (when I say we I mean DH lol). Quite often I see trailers on the side of the road full of wood for under $100.

We need to start looking too, we can use the heaters but nothing beats a nie warm fire in winter

Thanks everyone We've actually sourced a really good environmentally friendly solution. Going to check it out, but it's roughly half the price of wood. Works out to be about $6/18kgs. The energy rating vs normal wood/electricity/gas also works out to be the cheapest too.
