youi gave us better rates for the car than aami - we also have contents insurance with them. Haven't needed to claim yet, though.

It varies alot depending on where you live - some companies are cheaper in one area and more expensive in others. The best way I find to get the best price is to google insurance companies and then do quotes with all of them online. Once you have a few to compare that you like, ring them and see what they will offer you (with a quote number).
I don't find brokers any use at all many of them only have a handful of companies they can deal with anyway. It is time consuming, but the best way to get a good price - do it yourself.
