I'm with LimeSlice - I justify it for the lifetime guarantee. I inherited my MIL old tupperware bake n' store containers & the lid went funny & they gave me a whole brand new one! I do have other plastic containers but I really love Tupperware
I love my tupperwear, but YES its costly. I even held a party or 2 so I can get it a bit cheaper. I love my lunch/microwave containers that I reheat everything in.
I looooove Tupperware and find it totally worth the cost. Plus, at parties you generally get freebies/gifts thrown in here and there for good measure.
I have always gotten lids and the odd thing replaced when I've needed to and most of mine looks as good as ever, even after years of usage. And the user friendly nature of some of the stuff is much better than anything I've seen in shops.
I wouldn't buy some of the things in their range though. For me, it's the specifics that we use and use and use that are important. Lunch boxes, microwave containers, smaller snack boxes, etc.
Plus, I justify it in that I never have to buy glad wrap and I don't buy my DD (or me) pre-packaged lunch snacks because I can put fresh in a Tupperware container and know it will stay good. Not to mention how little we throw out of our fridge using the Fridgesmart for fruit and veg! All of that would well and truly have been covered from the initial outlay.
I used to be a demonstrator and basically the reason that Tupperware is so expensive, as well as the lifetime guarantee, is the quality of the plastic. It is the only plastic on the market that really lasts the distance without going brittle, i.e. it takes a lot longer to decompose than other plastics, so as well as the product lasting, you also don't get the toxins that get produced as the product is breaking down going into your food. itms. (On a side note, this also is the reason why we're told not to reuse bottled water bottles - because they're designed to break down quite quickly. Same with re-using takeway containers.)
I love my tupperware, it is mostly inherited and none of it matches but I love it. Haven't been to a tupperware party in forever, think I need more friends...
