I've got mitsubishi in both bedrooms, reverse cycle. They're both great, they coped with tenants for nearly 12 months and they're coping with me being back in the unit.
Talk to your electrician, get him to suggest a Air Con specialist or ask your electrician the ones that they aren't getting a lot of calls about for fixing etc
In our lounge room and main bedroom we have LG air conditioners. We have found these work well. However we have just had a mitsubishi fitted in our twins room and it is super quiet. My ILs have a fujitsu and they really like that one too.
We have Kelvinator in our 3 bedrooms, 2 of them run pretty much constantly, especially ours when DH is home or when he is on nightshift. Ours has been in for maybe 3 years now i think?
We had a problem with DD's recently, but had it repaired by a friend,and he only charged us $50 for the part, all the phone calls he made to get it, and then to fit it!
We have a LG split system in our lounge room and we are looking at replacing it, even though it is only about 4-5 years old. We had it for less than 2 weeks when it broke. Had every part replaced in it, and in the end, we got another new one fitted. still not overly happy with it, but it keeps us cool, so I shouldn't complain.
Daikin is what we originally wanted, DH keeps saying we might go and get one. BIL has one and it is extremely quiet.
We have 2 LG split systems which are fantastic. In the bedrooms we have Sharp, and also fantastic. The house is about 14 years old, we've been here for 4 years and have never had a problem with any of them.
My parents built their house 18 months ago and they have LG throughout their house and Samsung in their bedroom. The LG a/c are fine, but they have had problem after problem with the Samsung. The motor in it burnt out twice within the first 6 months. They only got that one as Harvey Norman stuffed up their order and accidentially ordered that one.
The a/c specialist who fixed the Samsung one for them recommended Mitsubishi air cons, apparently they're really good.
The most recommended down here is Daikin. We are hoping to get ours soon.
Our main aim is to use it for heating though (split system). And because we get cold winters, the Daikins are meant to be the best for low temperatures. I think they are also the most expensive, but they are the ones everybody goes for here.

Not sure how long it has been here for though... it stopped working the other day and is in line to be fixed (waiting on the air con guys)
Up until it stopped working it was fantastic! Heats really well and cools down brilliantly.
Thanks for that girls. We have air con installers doing it for us and they have given us those options I am steering more towards a fujitsu. I am just sick of humidity up here!
